Ebay are a disgrace!

So i sold my bag on ebay for £60...Sent it first class signed for to the buyer.

Buyer contacts me to say Royal Mail left a card saying the bag is around the back. I said well they shouldnt of left it without signing, this is not my problem.

I said i can forward over the reciept with tracking details for her to take it up with Royal Mail, she said no problem.

Since then she has complained to ebay and WON THE CASE.

I have done nothing wrong,i have sent the bag which is clear. Ebay have refunded the buyer however i have appealed against the decision.

Clearly if i have proof of posting they can't give her her money back.I spoke to them and told them she said post man left bag in the garden.I told her obviously she has a thief in the area and she needs to sort this herself..she says i dont think so i live in a respectable village....cheeky thing. Im not happy the buyer always wins which is wrong when i have done my part of the deal???

Technically it's your problem until it's delivered. eBay have done the right thing refunding......your issue is with Royal Mail. If you sent it recorded you will only get £42 back..........hope you sent special.

If you didn't send it by trackable delivery then i'm afraid you've learnt the first lesson of eBay.

do ebay only require proof of posting? isnt it proof of delivery? these kinda threads are becoming more and more common recently-seems ebay almost always rule in favour of the buyer-its becoming more of a scammers paradise every day-dont know why people bother with it at all anymore-its a den of thieves.

its down to the seller to take it up with royal mail

On an upside if you get your money back from RM then you can refund the buyer.........No paypal fees! :)

Ebay is pants sometimes.

Just take it up with royal mail and get your money back off them although you won't get £60 if you only sent it recorded

Whats to say the woman didnt take the bag out of the garden herself and keep it... Says she lives in a posh area so that to her gets rid of the possibility someone stole it. Ebay are just making it to easy for people.

unless you can prove she has received it then its tough luck.

an item of that value should have been sent Special Delivery

Well she was fine at first agreed for me to send her the reciept over, then when i suggested it may have been pinched she opened a dispute. The reason ebay are on her side is because the bag is still tracking as posted but not recieved.I said well it won't be recieved if it was left in her back garden. The only time a post man would leave it in the backgarden without a signature is if they are on good terms ...So i reckon she gives him rudies in the mornin dirty thing!

Contact the police, and ring RM and insist on an investigation. If you have sent it signed for it should be signed for !! If anyone actually does their job you might get the right result. Good luck but dont hold out too much.

It must be an awfully small one..!!!!

Yes but she messaged me saying that the postman posted a card saying it WAS LEFT IN THE BACK GARDEN. So even though she hasnt signed for it, it was left on her premises.......Royal Mail shouldn't do that

Surely it's royal mail that are the disgrace in this case? eBay/paypal will refund the buyer if the seller can't prove delivery (it's rubbish but a fact). Seller should take up claim with RM, not the buyer.

so its Royal Mail's fault, not the buyer and also yours for not sending by Special Delivery

your contract is with RM,you need to follow up with them for breach of that contract, paypal were 100% correct to refund her

Royal Mail are terrible for leaving items where they shouldn't including not getting a signature for deliveries. I claim back all my recorded delivery fees and you'd be astonished at how many I claimed for in my last claim submission.

To play safe if you haven't already done so, leave a comment in the buyer's feedback along the lines of 'Prompt payment sorry that the item was stolen from your back garden'. This will stop them in their tracks if they are playing the non receipt game.

they do stick up for sellers provided you use correct Postal Services for the value of your item and have proof of delivery

ebay were 100% correct in their decision

Royal mail only paying back £42 be it Special delivery or Not is wrong. The postman is employed by royal mail & his job is to get a Signature & so as they employed him they should accept full responsibility in this case & give the OP full refund once she provides them with proof of the ebay transaction.

BTW: What is that you are sucking on OP as asked before ? 8)

Very good post +1 Ive had a few on ebay playing the game that would be a good way of stopping it

Buyer paid for First Class signed for.... i sent it First class signed for... Sometimes i see on listings ' if item goes missing i will not be liable and will forward over a reciept for you to trace with RM' Take it this has no true meaning.

This is exactly what I'm going to do! Thanks for this! Another moan now is that she could leave negative feedback if she wanted to :(

it has ZERO meaning-the recipient has no contract with royal mail-only the sender-royal mail wont even discuss an investigation with anyone other than the sender who paid for delivery and therefore has a contract with RM-sending someone a receipt is pointless.

She has no reason to leave neg....... She never asked for a refund and you posted the item and did your bit.

If she does then you can ask eBay to remove as you fully played your part
