Ebay Advice (very strage)

Could do with some advice on this guys:
About a month ago (maybe less) I sold my HTC HD2 mobile phone on ebay. The buyer had good feedback and was in the UK. He made prompted payment but then asked if he could get the phone sooner (I said up to 4 working days on ebay). After several emails I agreed but asked for an additional payment of £5 to cover my time and next day (Saturday) delivery costs. He agreed and once again payment was propped.

However the phone didnt arrive till Monday (Royal mail) so understandably he was disappointed. He then wrote an email asking for the £5 to be returned. I advised him that I was looking into it with the post office to claim my money back. I also explained that some of the cost was for my time (travel), so I offered to pay half the money back now (£2.50) and half when I get my money back for the postage (I wasnt even sure he didnt get it on time). After some emailing back and forth he threatened me with negative feedback, I once again explained to be patient and this was the last I heard from him.

Then a few hours ago I get an email to say this users account has been hacked and to cancel all transactions with him. Obviously this is too late as I have sent the phone (i have proof of postage) to a paypal confirmed address.

So where do I stand, will ebay / paypal come after me for the money even though I have sent the phone? I have cancelled any payments to both with my back.

What should I do as to me it seems strange for someone to hack an account then fight for a refund of £5???

Thanks

Have you got the money in your paypal account ? If so wait for the (Buyer) to file a complaint against you, thats if they will. Then you can start the process with Paypal. In regards to negative feedback you can't give out negative just like that they have to file a complaint against you.

Like I said if you have the money in your account you don't have to do anything, let paypal sort that out. In regards to paying the postage NO WAY ! if you have proof of postage then i would wait for the buyer to contact me in 10-20 days time. Did you send it Recorded or insured ?

you can check the arrival date on the RM website with the tracking reference

If it didn't arrive on time then you should be due all your postage back from RM I believe? Although technically the buyer should see most of that as he was on the receiving end of the delay.

Not really sure about the hacked bit, I would say as long as you have proof of delivery you should be fine, watch you don't receive a load of bricks back and they claim that's what they received instead of a phone.

Have you got photos of the phone before you sent it including imei?

UPDATE

After sending an email advising I was going to be contacting the police, both local to me and the buyer (as advised by ebay) I received an email the morning saying it was a mix up and everything is fine.

With regards to the phone I have the IMEI number and was sent both recorded and insured. As I said I'm more than happy to refund the £5 now I know it was late (thanks for the tracking number tip).

You should get full postage refunded if you claim I believe. Give £5 to the buyer and keep the rest if you want!
