A buyer has given me a negative feedback saying i did not ship in time and over charged on shipping. In effort of trying to resolve this with him, so that I can get neg removed, he has advised that the same of his car (for which the item was for) was done at a lower price due to the item not getting to him as early as "hoped". Now, item was sent a couple of days later than advised on the eBay ad but got to him in good time (quick than expected) so it pretty much balances out.

This is an unfair feedback and only done because he had to sell the came for £200 less. Not my problem as far as I can see but eBay do not intervene with this and say seller must resolve it. I dont want a neg on my account as I always do my best to get items out and have never had neg before

options

1. Take it on the chin and move on ...
2. Resolve matter with the buyer (who says he wants to send the item back to me for a full refund - bit silly as its large and he will prob also charge me for shipping item back. not fair
3. speak to a 3rd part who can help me ... are there any ? (square trade etc ?)

Anyone please advise ?

Thanks

leave a retalitory feedback to his neg saying impatient buyer ........ ever heard of xmas delays

put him on your banned buyer list & move on

1 neg won't hurt you unless you don't sell much

you could try offering a peace deal e.g. a small amount into his paypal account but its not worth it for a neg....... just take it on the chin mate

Even if 'item not as described' the buyer will still have to pay the cost of returning, not the seller. It is not required that the seller refund return postage costs.

I'd take it on the chin and move on. You cant avoid neg as there are some buyers out there who will use the 'option' of negging you just to get an item cheaper. Dont fall for it. If the neg feedback doesnt contain any profanity, personal details or defamatory statements then leave it be.

If the buyer wants to return the item for a full refund, make sure that its at his own expense and that the postage cost refunded is at your discretion, not theirs, so let them stamp their feet and jump up n down. It will cost them to return it and thats their expense, not yours.

Keep the emails and messages from the buyer as it establishes the reason behind their behaviour and as long as the item you sold was as described and authentic then the buyer cant do anything.

If the buyer doesnt want to be reasonable about it then state to them in no uncertain terms that you will not respond under any circumstances, and if they get abusive report them to eBay, even if they email you instead of messaging.

PS: Theres always buyers out there like the ones you describe so take as par for the course and move on. :)

EH?

I think the buyer bought something for his car which he was in the process of selling, but - because Cyrus delayed sending the item - the buyer had to sell his car for less money

if people want your product they will buy from you and depending on what neg was left I think If it was something to say it was late etc I think anyone who understands how the postal system works over christmas, would view the neg as very petty... why lose sleep over it

top this
last year i got kicked off ebay for selling
pre-sale items (drop shipping) motorcycle accessories
of which ive been selling for many years and have been self employed
and done my own books
ive been trying to get unsuspended all year still people selling the same as i was
on ebay now
realy i refused to give ebay permission to
(notify official people of my earning on ebay) tax man
nothing to do with them

i agree, leave a comment after the negative on your ratings saying 'the item was dispatched as soon as the payment cleared and you should expect postal delays around the xmas period and these are beyond your control'. also don't leave him any ratings because you can only leave him positive, if he was selling his car with an item he was buying from you he should have waited until he had received the item or otherwise bought it sooner, not your problem. ******don't refund!******

I dont sell much but I think I will take it on the chin and move on. Half enough on my plate and cant really be bothered about this neg. There might be another similar person who comes along in the future and negs me the same - Im not going to go through the trouble each and every time! Great advice for retaliation feedback. REP ++

I blame this, my dilemma and other peoples problems on the fact that ebay have the monopoly and there is no competition we can turn to if we are not happy with the service. I will honestly throw a party when a healthy competitor comes along and we can move providers if we want!

Thanks all for your advice. Was much more than I expected. Hope you all have a wonderful (and neg free) 2009 !

Again, I would throw a part if they went under but with the fees they charge (on ebay AND paypal) and limited overhead costs theres no chance of that happening.

Evrything i have ever sold on ebay,i have made sure it reaches the buyer within a week, i think any later than that is unreasonable if you live in the same country ,You have to treat the buyer well if you expect good feedback, feedback is optional and at the buyers discression so treat em nice,Exactly how long did you take to post ? ,
#21
i bought an item on ebay and left feedback for the seller but they never left me any back, that really annoys me
banned#22
try reading what you have written. Doesnt make sense!

totally deserved neg as I hate sellers who post out later than specified. I buy certain items even if they cost a little more if they say they post quickly. to then post slowly is not on.

how can you sit there saying I deserved a neg for this. It's people like you who judge people without hearing the full story. Circumstances change and you cannot always post within a given time frame. On this occaision, there was a death in the family and, naturally, I was not able to get to the post office in time being busy with the arrangements.

People like you make me sick.

just a thought here.....
why get your blood pressure up because of ebay.. in the scale of things does it really matter ?
If it does.. may I take the time to suggest.. make a cup of tea.. sit down and think about those conjoined twins who died and what their parents are going through.. then think about the trivial mater of feedback on ebay ... and then tell me how your issue rates on the scale of matter of things that mean anything ?
merry christmas

The guy is just trying to inconvenience you into giving him a bung or discount, and you don't know if he returns it if he will bother cancelling the feedback.

Tell him you will add to his comment he sent cash that he had clearly "winked" over - then leave him to try to remove it.

Ebay used to be good - but its a total scam now - with too many chancers trying to screw something out of it rather than use it legitimately - and the biggest chancer is paypal/ebay themselves.

... which is exactly why you find out the whole story before you start making conlusions.

Anyway, left a reply to his neg and moved on. Life's too short to worry too much about things like these.

Cor! This has taken a turn since I last looked in. Cyrus, not trying to be funny but your problems aren't the buyers problems. People buy expecting a level of service and when that doesn't happen they have every right to be miffed. Just remember 'It's only ebay'

Im a bit peeved as I bought quite a few items last weekend from Ebay and only about 1/4 of them have been sent, I knew it would be late but thought yesterday or tommorow at latest but some are saying they wont get a chance till around Wednesday next week.
banned#34
The fact remains that if you offer a service, then you expect to receive it, even from an ebay seller. Whilst the now revealed OP's unfortunate circumstances have been belatedly revealed; would anyone buying from say, Amazon, be happy to receive an item 2-3 days after they said they would deliver it?

In this respect, the neg is valid IMHO.
