Ebay buyer problem.....

Im in abit of a ebay situation and i wanted to know other peoples input

I sent a printer/laptop and other bits to a buyer off ebay. The buyer couldnt set the printer up to print properly from the mp tray, i tried to help over the phone for 2 days then i found what the issue was and tried to tell him but was having none of it and wanted a full refund. Eventually i agreed on the basis he pays all postage costs both ways which he eventually agreed after 1 day of argueing.

Now i receive the package back but the printer has buckled chassis every panel is damaged and the doors are damaged. when i sent it to him i put the printer ontop of a foam pad and had bubble wrap and foam all around the sides. He sent it back with 1 side with a foam pad on and 3 sides not protected. Under the printer was this other part that he sat the printer on which was made of jagged metal which dug in the underside of the printer denting it and bending the whole chassis.

He now demands the refund or will take me to court. I paid £600 for this printer and i dont know whether i should charge him the todays going rate of the printer (about £200) or what?

What would you do? abit confused.

I would just refund so long as he has paid postage to send back to you. Then file a complaint against royal mail for damaged items. And whatever service the buyer used then you can get upto that much compensation. Didnt think it would be as serious as court?

i'd refuse to accept it back, tell him it wasn't in that state when you sent it to him. notify ebay aswell,
and if it comes to it let him take you to court.

It wasnt by RM it was by UPS who are excellent. It wasnt packaged the way i sent it to him, he sent it back without 95% of the packaging!. But the real problem was he put the printer onto this metal lump and not onto any foam.
