eBay cancelled my listing: Keyword spamming

Scribbles Avatar

I'm so offended by this. I wouldn't even know how to spam on a listing.
Is eBid any good? I won't use eBay again if they don't re-instate my listing :x
Are there any other decent online auction sites better or as good as eBay like?

What were you selling, and what did you have as the listing title?
#2
It was simply my PSP, advertised with free p+p and £4.99 start.
I'm seething as they don't cancel the hundreds of listings for fake memory cards, but they cancel my listing. eBay are not only expensive, but also they are more hassle than they are worth.
#3
'Spamming' can be something like you have said "Sony PSP, not PS3" or something along those lines, or have added extra words in the tiltle that are not actually to do with the auction.

What title exactly did you put?
#4
"Keyword spamming is not permitted on eBay. Keyword spamming is using brand names or other inappropriate keywords in an item title or description for the purpose of gaining attention or diverting buyers to a listing."

How on earth am I meant to describe a Sony PSP other than by calling it a 'Sony PSP'? FFS.

Sony PSP, as new, with loads of extras Free 1 day p+p

People do report ebay listings if you use keywords, For example :

Sony PSP console (not a Nintendo, Ds lite, PS2, Xbox 360, Wii, PS1, PC)

Did you put "i'm using my xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Nintendo ds and wii more than this PSP" etc?

Even if thats a genuine statement it would be seen as keyword spamming to get more hits.........
#6
One thing is for sure. I won't be using eBay again, unless they re-instate the listing. All of my listings have been 100% kosher ever since I opened my account. I am not going to proof every listing just in case I have put a word in the wrong place. Let them close the hundreds of listings for fake memory cards, not my genuine listing.
#7
I didn't actually realise it included the description too, good to know
#8
How can you describe a PSP, made by Sony, other than calling it a 'Sony' PSP? THAT is what it is. No debate. It's a SONY PSP

Did you name more than one other console in the listing?
#10
There's no way they can cancel the listings for fake memory cards as well. It's not as if they're advertised as fake, so how are Ebay to know?

Everyone knows they are though. It's from Hong Kong, it's quarter the RRP, it comes with no adaptor, it has negs from buyers even saying it is a fake etc, etc. Yet they do nothing.
There were no references to other companies other than for items I was selling with it, ie. "a Sandisk gaming MSPD 1gb", a "Logic 3 leather PSP case".
How do you describe something other than by what it is? These items were part of the sale.
#12
Where you selling it with "back-up" games?, Its nothing to do with keywords, But could explain why it was removed........

Nothing illegal at all. A genuine listing for a PSP with genuine (not fake) accessories.
eBay are too expensive anyway, so it's not like i'll miss them. I sold my A95 and marine case for £149, and ended up with £134. 10% of the sale value, in fees, is a bloody joke IMO. That was with no gallery pic or anything other than a bog standard listing! Ridiculous.
Yes, I am livid.

Why not post your exact listing title and listing content so we can see it? You've been asked about four times to do so but haven't, how is anyone meant to give you any advice!?

Is anyone else trying to sell a PSP and they see a competing / under-pricing their auction.

I had this with a laptop last year.

Someone else was trying to sell the exact same laptop at a higher BIN price and I guess reported me to eBay saying that my account had been hijacked!!!

eBay pulled the auction without contacting me first. Stupid this was the eBay merchant bankers also pulled a another of my auctions for a £150 mp3 player that had closed several weeks earlier and I had received positive feedback for!

Suggest you discuss this with eBay if you did not really have any keywords regarding other consoles in your description. There is an online chat facility on eBay to chat online with a "live" eBay bod

I haven't got the listing as it got deleted. Just the title.

I have already posted the info as I have it available to me. I dunno what more to say, it was a bog standard listing for a Sony PSP.

My poxy internet connection keeps going down, but i'm still here in spirit :)

Can we at least try and keep one thread on topic today.
If you want to 'chat' take it to MSM.

Anyway back to the OP:
As someone else has pointed out, I suspect someone has reported you because they are trying to sell the same item. Take it on the chin and re-list.

I reported some ***** that was selling a copy of Lumines for £34.99, bundled with a CD with the downgrader and 3.5fw on it, a couple of weeks ago. I Pm'd him to tell him he was taking the ****. Maybe he reported me? It's possible I suppose. I don't care. But revenge is just so 'yesterday' IMO.
I just get annoyed when people try to rip other people off.

It's not a rip off though, people will pay what they want to pay. If they don't like the price there are always other options.

Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if he reported you then, People on ebay can make their own mind up, A simple google shows price comparison services and the free info about downgrading, If they can't be bothered to research, They'll pay a rip off price.

I'm not surprised somebody reported it. What a very misleading title.
"Sony PSP, as new with loads of extras"
Or:-
"Sony PSP, As New with Extras, Free Next Day Delivery"

Jeez. What is misleading about it? It says exactly what i'm selling, given the space restriction. You do agree that the idea is to promote your item, not some boring description that no-one will notice?
If i'm not allowed to promote my item to it's full then what's the friggin point?

What about titles like:

"Nokia N95 for sale, NOT N80 or N73 or E61"? I don't see too many of those being deleted by ebay :-(

Neither do I see auctions that claim to be based in the UK, when the item is to be drop shipped from Hong Kong, being highlighted. There really is something wrong with ebay when con merchants can do what they want and legit sellers get scapegoated.

I'll be back later, as my connection is unusable at the moment.
#34
Scribbles, you obviously know it all so there is no point offering advice is there?
Why can't you see it?
What is free, the extras, the P&P or the PSP???
1 day P&P? What's that mean, next day delivery?

Listings need reporting before they are removed, your listing was reported and ebay agreed with whoever reported it.

I'm willing to listen, but I don't agree with you.

Sony PSP, as new, with loads of extras Free 1 day p+p

In every country I ever visited, a capital letter represents the start of a new sentence, as in "Sony PSP, as new, with loads of extras ... Free 1 day p+p

If that is not an acceptable listing, then my ass is a banjo.

In every country I've ever visited, sentences are separated by a full stop...
[admin]#37
A comma after extras may have made the listing a bit clearer :? Your title makes it look like you're offering extras for free and also include 1 day P&P :)

You can look at this in two ways, one you are right and ebay, me and most of the posters on here are wrong or YOU are wrong and you can play a tune on your ass. :whistling:
Next time use FULL STOPS, here are a few to get you going:- . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . don't use them all in one go.:p

I suggest you go to Germany then, as many words mid sentence are capitalised.

Okay Mr Pedant.

Was this eBay listing on eBay.de? No.
