Hi

I am a ebay with 1000+ Positive Feedback.

I have just sold a special 20p for £160+ pound, great.

Now the buyer is NEW, with zero feedback.

But he has paid, and his paypal has a confirmed Eligible Seller Protection and all that which is very good.

I gave two options on checkout, £2 Recorded, £6 Special.

He has only paid the £2, I know recorded is only covered for £36, so I am unsure, even if I send it special, I though Money was not covered for posting anyway?????

I am concerned he is going to open the package, and either claim no coin was in it, or claim it is a standard 20p (Like loads are on ebay) and depute as item not as described???

I really don't know what to do, I have offered to drive and delivery by hand, but have not had a answer back yet...

It is miles away...

Ideas, please, or ease my mind... xx

Or he could keep the 20p and return you 1 that isnt the real 1 then claim back through paypal..

Your in a lose lose situation

p.s if you go to drop it off by hand then refund his paypal and ask him to give cash in hand. wheres he from?

And you cant just pay for special delivery because????
#3
Send it special delivery it's only 4 quid extra for all the piece of mind.
#4
deliver by hand, pay by cash or no sale.....warning signs all over this
#5
Tell him you'll drop it off and he can pay cash

Or what boothy said :p

In the event of it going missing whichever way you go,say you did a claim with Royal Mail they would refund you the cost of 20p and the postage costs to get there. They say they don't pay out on profit, and will want to see what the item was worth to you, which is clearly 20p to begin with.

Sorry to put a downer on things but that's way it goes.

It is a pain in the bum. He did send me a message and it made no sense.. I took a photo with my ebay id written on a piece of paper to prove I had the coin. He wanted to know what the ebay ID paper was and if it was included.

He is in LS11 Leeds.....

I think it stinks, and I wish ebay would allow sellers to block feedback of less than 10... Newly registered people get on my nerves..

PS. What's a SNAD?

money is not covered anyway with recorded delivery. Money MUST be sent via special delivery only to be covered.
#9
Send it special and get him to open it in front of the postman ..
but really im not sure whats best to do :(
#10
transfer the money to your back acc, wait for it to clear
then send it by special del
#11
but paypal can take money from your bank account can't they?
#12
You could always say it got lost and refund the guy?

they might, but i would feel much safer if its in a bank acc

Drop off in person for cash seems to be your only way without the possibility of losing the coin and/or the money. There are too many of these coins being sold on eBay fraudulently and this guy may know this and it's just a way to con yours off you.

Whether you send Special Delivery or not, it's too easy for him to say the coin you sent is not the coin he received and signed for, so you will lose your coin. If he pays via PayPal, he could do the same and get his cash back too.

COD all the way for me and if he says no phone eBay as it sounds dodgy.

contact ebay and ask for their help.

It makes no difference, PP will just put the account into a negative balance, close that and the ebay account after a while and start debt collection proceedings, so it's not any safer........

well then at least they have to work for it :-D

instead of just taking it, leaving you feeling helpless :x

But nowhere else would you get someone giving you £160 for a 20p coin. If you offered it on here, you'd get someone offering you 10p and want free delivery!!

No one can bid on my items if they have less than 5 feedback or was a day dreaming when i set that?
#20
It's a 20p piece that cost you 20p. Drop it off. Is it gonna cost you more than £160 in fuel?

Nope

How about the second highest bidder?
If they are a high rater then just refund the buyer and send a second chance offer to them instead - I would rather risk getting a neg FB than losing out £160

That's a idea, think that maybe the way to go...

I have not a response to the email I sent this afternoon regarding collection.
