Just sold an item on ebay - A phone

The buyer is from Ukraine. Does anyone know the cheapest way to send it? Need it covered up to £200 and signed for.

Ive had a look on ups and dhl and they quote from £70-110, wtf?

Thanks

I wouldn't send a £200 ? phone to Ukraine
#2
Royal Mail International signed for?
Hope the seller is paying
#3
Too risky. I would refund and relist, change my preferences to block international bidders.
#4
Urm, back out of the deal. You will lose your phone and the money.

I can arrange DHL world parcel express service with much cheaper to Ukraine:thumbsup: (for £50) with Loss/Damage Cover up to £250.

Hmmmm, The seller has bought a lot of stuff from different countries. Yes the buyer is paying for postage.

Im tempted to relist now, although if they paypal by paypal confirmed address wont I be covered?

Ive jus found this on the RM wesbite,

Service Delivery Compensation Tracking Price
International Signed For From 4 days Up to £500 Within UK £11.69

Ukraine's pro-presidential tabloid Fakty I Kommentarii reports a 22% increase in average wages since the beginning of the year, which "have at last risen above the poverty line". An average Ukrainian now earns nearly $74 a month.

"The lowest wages are still in Ukrainian agriculture" at $36, the paper says regretfully.

The average wage in the heath care and social protection sector, $42 a month, is also below the poverty line.

Says it all really :s

He may be legit, but take a very good look at his feedback and if in any doubt "just say no".

I sent a broken sat nav to Latvia I think it was with no problems. He paid me £40 plus postage for it :-D

Still tracking will be a massive gamble at best.

I would say that if you cant afford to lose the phone and money to relist UK only.

tracking will be non existent.

Need to get your facts right Gav it is insured for up to £500 and a signature obtained if it does get delivered.

Feedback is good ultimately it is up to you do you need the hassle?
#19
Defo dont need the hassle, and defo cant lose the the phone or money.

Not sure what to do, ahhhh lol

When he pays and his address is confirmed i think ill just post it. His feedback seems good enough for me

try interparcel.com

easy site to use

I am trying to mail something very large and heavy to Oz for ebay and have to admit after this I am going to revert to selling to UK bidders only . Too much hastle and worry about overseas stuff.
#22
If he pays via Paypal you could always try to put the funds into your bank account then after cleared send the phone, if things go wrong I don't know if Paypal has the authorisation to take money from your bank account..

Personally I would contact Paypal / Ebay with concerns on sending it to the buyer and where you stand if things go wrong. As stated previously make sure you have adequate cover from Royal Mail.

Thats why I edited my post as you will see in your quote.

They may get a signature but will it be 100% online trackable to satisfy Paypal. I know Royal Mail say so but in reality I doubt it. They frequently cant even get recorded to tracking right let alone involving another countries postal service.

but a lot of that feedback is multiple feedback from the same sellers - he hasn't got 3 pages of feedback all from different sellers. Might make a difference, might not, I'm not an expert but if it were me, I'd not send it and re-list stating UK postage only, and even then perhaps look at stating you only accept bids from people with a certain amount of feedback and make sure you cover every angle when you post it off (eg, note the serial number, take pictures before posting etc etc)

Ive just been reading on the paypal site, aslong as the buyer pays by paypal, his address is confirmed. I am covered if anything should go wrong. So hopefully it should be all good. Just waiting for payment now, be funny if he decides not to pay lol
#26

Doesn't mean that much, Thats all for buying and he can only be left Positive anyway.

#31

Don't relist it yet,the buyer will see it and know you were lying about the mishap and maybe neg you,

Personally I would have sent them it if everything still looked ok in the next lot of hours, they don't look suss and prob just liked the phone and wanted another for maybe friend or something

If they don't agree to the cancellation you will lose your selling fees
#33
Yh I know, though he seems okay and should agree to cancel. He cant leave neg if the transactions been cancelled. I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
#34
He can leave neg though if he disagrees with the cancellation and wants to pay and does so,he can also report you as a non performing seller

Correct - in fact I think mobile phones may be excluded completely now.

Edit:- just checked and i was wrong about them being completely excluded; as you have said its limited to £39 compensation.
