EBAY ~ Digital Scales ~ Paypal

I'm currently selling items on ebay where i'm going to the post office everyday, and posting around 10 - 20 Jiffy bags each time I go, which creates a queue of frowning old dears behind me and makes me feel

I mainly take payment through paypal, and I'm quite interested in thier Postage Label tool, which is no dearer than for me to go down to the post office and get them to print it out of thier printer apart form ink and paper.

So what I'm asking/looking for is whether this is a good system to use, and where can i find a decent set of digital scales which can take weight of say up to 3kg for bulk purchases. (no i'm not selling thunderbirds figures).

also what type of label paper is need for me to be able to do this, if anyone who uses this can recommend the correct size. thanks.

i was confused whilst typing it, so no worries if your confused whilst reading it :giggle:

I'd be interested in feedback from people using this to.

I use some Avery labels for normal addresses, Those are quite good quality.

I use the paypal postage system by weighing the package with digital scales. I just print the label on the blank paper then scollotape it onto the package (don't cover the barcode with the tape).

If I had the chance I would use sticker label paper so I would save time (costs more in the long run though)

Need anything else?

hmmmm might try this out then but use a glue stick instead of tape.

because one of my packets weighs on the border line of 249 and 250 grams, don't want to push it over into the next price range otherwise costs an extra 46p

Couple of things here, you have been able to print your postage directly from the Royal Mail website for over a year. I have used this a couple of times but not for my ebay items. You can either print it on a piece of paper of use a label printer like a Dymo printer.
If you post the items in a letter box you only have CoP/PoP and ebay items need to go R/D if you have taken Paypal for payment of it. If you do not use R/D you will lose a Paypal dispute.
Also you are not keeping your local Post Office 'going', the less customers using them the more likely they are to close.
I have a really good relationship with my Post Office Manager, I can take a sack of post in to them in a morning and pay for it the next day. I fill in the P1038 and all he has to do is sign and stamp it and put a postage label on the packets. That may be an option.

I find it better for me to keep an eye on my profits by using my PayPal account.

point taken about the closing of post offices i didn't see it that way i just saw myself as a hinderence taking so many parcels at a time, we don't do recorded delivery however we send our jiffy bags with and get a proof of posting from the p/o, which if this doesn't cover us then its hard luck on our behalf (our/we, being my brother and myself)

Have you considered having a chat with your Post Office Manager? I know mine is very pleased that I use him and he will bend over backwards to help me.

One by me is small and part of a star shop (about 20 minute walk away) they don't have a manager just the staff who work there. They know my face but doubt they would do a "tab".

I have a passion for DVDs and Games so probably something along those lines due to the fact I feel I'm more experienced in that field.

i know this question wasn't realy aimed at me but, between now and september, we sell tanning creams (sunbeds), and fake bake which is a gast seller, don't make a huge amount of profit on them, but we're the cheapest seller of that one line at the moment and it sells in good volumes. so much so we've invested £1k each just for that one line - hope it doesn't go pair shaped because i can't realy afford it lol.

I know your the huge ebay expert dino, what do you sell?
