Just to let everyone know I just received an email from ebay informing me they are reducing their insertion fee's. However, they are going to hike up the final value fee!!! So what ever little saving they offered they will be taking twice as much from the increase in final value fee:

One of the many reasons why I stopped using ebay for selling.

I worked it out, selling computer games with a low starting price and using paypal, I lose nearly 15% of the total revenue to fees.

They need to reduce there Paypal fess, yesterday i had payment for £56 in my paypal account for something i sold on ebay, so as well as them getting insertion fees / final sell fees, they also took £2.15 for the privelidge of paypal

I've been a long-time member of ebay, mostly as a buyer, sometimes a seller, and it seems to me like the bigger they have got, the greedier they have got. They have achieved such a position of dominance in the online auction world, that it now appears they think they can abuse the 'power' they perceive has come with that dominance. I hear and see enough rumblings of discontent to think that maybe there is an opening for one of the smaller auction companies to make strides into the market if they make the right overtures to both buyers and sellers.

There is supposed to be a strike this week by sellers and buyers, but I don't think word spread far enough!

Not quite correct. Its useless now for sellers but great for buyers.

sample purchases:-

160gb TVonics PVR - £32 new (tescos £139.99)

Resin Outdoor table & 6 recliners (new and still priced at £1200). I paid £32 last year!

the bargains are when delivery is extortionate and you can pick up locally.

Got a TEAC 7:1 surround sound receiver for £17 last week and still selling for £249.99! Only had to drive 2 miles.

That's what i hate about eBay. Why make the fees so much. They are already making millions...

Billions at the last count ;)

Good luck to them I say. If people are willing to pay the fees, then then fair do's.

It is a capitalist society we live in after all, in which the rich get richer.
