Just gone onto ebay and there is a voucher for easter in "my messages" for £25 off £50 spend from ebay.(an easter promotion) I have never had any vouchers from them in the past and all the ones on here have been user specific. Has anyone received one....

After i have used it i will post it in case it can be used by anyone but i doubt it.

Can I ask how much feedback you have? And if you use ebay much?

I never used to get any discounts but I did get an ebay mouse mat lol.

I had a £10 no min spend and £20 off £50 both in the post this February!!

I think they hand them out based on your feedback at certain stages? Maybe?

I've just had one for £15 off and there doesn't seem to be a minimum spend. The other half had one posted to him last week and we used it with no probs

Damn! I wud have thought it was based on buying and selling feedback but apparently not. Im coming up to 300 myself and these the first discounts I ever had. I haven't received any email discount though. Maybe you just got lost in the system or your postman is an ebay addict with sticky fingers.

Did you get the ebay email message in your normal email account i.e hotmail or gmail as well as in ebay? Doesn't seem legit to me...

Did you manage to open the page? I did. Can you see the coupon number? If not ill give it you coz it opened for me

You type the code in paypal when you're paying for the item.

Lol I was only messing when I said id use it. Its user specific anyway so probs wudn't work for me. Ive spent way too much this month.

I received a "10 pounds of any spend code" in the post, together with a little business card with the ebay logo on and a phone number. The mailer this was stuck to says that this number is for a "dedicated customer support team that's open 7 days a week - just for our eBay stars."

The "no strings, no minimum spend" code, however, does come with strings attached. Most importantly, your registered eBay email address must be the same as your PayPal account.

I have a problem with this condition, since when the internet was young and fresh, and I was exceptionally naive, I attempted to register on ebay using my email address as a user ID. This is not possible, but had the side effect of creating an ebay account with my email address that I cannot access or change, and since my paypal account uses the same email address, I can't use the voucher I was sent.

So I thought I would give the new "dedicated customer support team" a call. And guess what? No ringing tone; no nothing. The line was completely dead. I was left with the feeling that I had been scammed. I even used the standard web form to send a query to EBAY customer services about this, which solicited a request that I call PAYPAL on an 0870 number. And then a spam email from another third party asking me whether I was satisfied with the negligable assistance received in the first email. What a waste of time.

Frankly, if I receive a note from eBay and have a query, I don't want to have to contact a different company. I think this is a customer relations ploy based on the fact that most people won't want to call the supposed support number.

To all those with emailed or postal eBay codes, I recommend at least reading the terms and conditions, as in this case, no strings does not mean no strings.

Might be user specific though. they usually are. ;-) If you look at other peoples posts on here of codes sent to them people have tried to use them and then had to pay full as they are specific to the users account. Good luck if you try.

Yup read my post above.

Nothing for me.

I did get a £7.50 voucher a couple weeks ago (no min spend). It said on the message "We've noticed you haven't been visiting us as much as usual - we miss you!", but I don't honestly think this is the criteria, as I have another account that has far more feedback and has been used even less recently, and that didn't get anything.

I keep getting emails saying you have received a question from ebay member i don't open it fully only enough for me to see its sent from eday.com ? is this some sort of scam.

Yes. It's a phishing e-mail. They make it look like it's from eBay in the hopes that you will click on the link in the e-mail to sign in. It will take you to a fake eBay page, and when you enter your ID and password, the croooks will use this information to take over your account.

The simple rules are:

1: Never click on the links, no matter how genuine the e-mail looks (and some are amazingly accurate). Always sign into eBay by manually visiting the site.

2: Any e-mail like that from eBay will always show up within your actual eBay "My Messages", so once you have safely signed in [see 1:] double check by making sure the message is there as well.

3: If in doubt, forward the e-mail to [email protected]">[email protected] (or [email protected]">[email protected] ) and they will let you know if it is genuine or not.

It might be worth taking a few minutes to look at what the eBay site has to say on Spoof e-mails as well. :)
