Ebay help!

I have a buyer who is claiming they have not received their item. The item in question was posted our via Royal Mail Recorded Delivery. According to Royal Mail Track & Trace, the item has been delivered. I have also contacted Royal Mail directly and had this confirmed.

The buyer paid via Paypal and is now claiming that they have not received it, its been about three weeks since it was posted. They are threatening me with a Credit Card chargeback if I do not refund.

I have spoken to Paypal who have confirmed if they started a Item Not Received Dispute that they would not win as the tracking number shows the item as delivered. She could apparently try a Credit Card chargeback but Paypal would not allow the refund and her credit card company would have to take the loss. Paypal have told me not to refund her.

She is getting quite rude now but I can not see what she is expecting me to do. I sent the item out via a trackable service as recommended by Paypal and the item has been delivered to her address (which is a confirmed address). She has suggested I make a claim via Royal Mail but as it has been delivered, that is not possible!

Any advice on this please!!?

Stick to your guns if it says it has been delivered and paypal say they will find in your favour then dont refund and explain to her that she may take this up with her credit card company

Have you checked out thier feedback on ebay? Sounds like a bluff to me. You hear stories about people that order stuff from ebay and when it arrives they say they haven't had it, and paypal will refund the payment as there's no proof of postage. You should be ok this time though as you have proof of postage and receipt. Was it signed for and if so who signed?

I wouldn't refund them, it's been delivered in good faith and they won't be able to get a refund via paypal if you have proof of delivery

Get Royal Mail to confirm to you in writing that it has been delivered and send buyer a copy of that confirmation and ask that they then chase up Royal Mail.
Don't know if this is any use but worth a try. In the meantime, don't pay and take ebay/Paypal advice.

Hi, Sorry for you, but every thing going in your favor, so, once you get the prove of postage, that will be fine. You just say sorry for her, then you just ignore her.:-D

yeah stick to your guns pal, too many scammers on ebay and you could shove it into one of them right enough

Don't refund. Simple as that.

You have the recorded delivery and the address on that - as long as they match up to what it says on Ebay (where to send) then you have done nothing wrong.

If they get aggressive report the email to ebay. Let them open a dispute window and watch as they fail to achieve anything as you have the proof, and they have nothing. If you got the payment through paypal then you are protected against things like this.

She has suggested I make a claim via Royal Mail but as it has been delivered, that is not possible!


Why can she do it? Its her address, if she thinks its been mis-posted why can't she make the complaint?

You've done all you can do. Just be polite and say that there is nothing more that you can do.

If she takes it further, then that's up to her, but you have the evidence to back your case.

Have you checked her feedback to see if anything like this has been reported before?

Also, it might be worth blocking her eBay ID, just as a precaution.

Stick to your guns. You have proof it has been delivered therefore you have fulfilled your obligations!. It may be worth going to the Royal mail website then Track and Trace. Type in you your reference number and have a look at the signature of the person who signed for it !. Its not always available but its worth a look!. :thumbsup:

you have the proof of postage . you sent item recorded she had to sign for it royal mail claim she has , sounds like she trying it on, follow paypal advice dont refund her, if she contacts paypal then fair enough sort it with paypal dont let her pressure you into refunding sounds like a scam

I think there's alot of people out there who genuineley have not received some of their Ebay purchases, i'm one of those people and yes it is really annoying if you don't get your money back!

Having said that, i think this woman is definately having you on - stick to your guns - you've done nothing wrong!

I am at my wits end, she is saying it is my responsibility to sort this out but I cannot do anything. If something dodgy has happened, such as her postie has nicked it, I don't know what I am expected to do. Surely it is something that she is going to have to take up with her Postal Depot?

Stay polite, don't refund, don't panic. If buyer becomes abusive or threatening, report to ebay and if it continues, to police.

It's your responsibility to sort it out if the item doesn't arrive. However, as it was signed for, there is nothing else you can do. She will have to get in touch with her local depot if the item has been signed for but not delivered.

I once had someone threaten to fire bomb my house saying hahaha I have your address now, emailed the police the email then I forwarded the email from police to this guy, he profusely apologised and withdrew the negative feedback. Too many weirdo's on the internet, they should all be banned :x

I agree if the item had not arrived at all that it would be my responsibility but as it is showing as delivered. What more can I do?!

If you really wanted to, you could ask for for details of her local depot and call yourself, but that really is going the extra mile.

If it were me, I would leave it as is, as you have done all you can reasonably be expected to do from your end.

Yup don't refund - youv'e done everything you can to cover your back. They'e probably just trying it on as sadly too many people seem to do now on ebay. I can't think of a single person I know (including myself) who has sold stuff on ebay and at some point not encountered a problem. I find it hard to belive that the amount of regular selling/buying on ebay hasn't dropped because of so many people having experienced problems and being put off by it. Like I said stick by your guns and hopefully when she realises that your going to leave it to paypal to resolve (which they will on your behalf) she'll back off. In the meantime, try not to let it bother you too much things like this are always hassle that you just don't need :).

It is kind of suspicious that she said about doing a credit card chargeback, rather than just a PayPal chargeback. Most people wouldn't know about doing a CC chargeback with PayPal. :thinking:

I think she knows that if she did try go go through Paypal that she wouldn't stand a chance. As her Paypal is linked to her CC a chargeback is the only way.

Exactly :) But most people who have never had to deal with PayPal disputes before, wouldn't know that they would need to do a CC chargeback under these circumstances, or even that it was possible to do one. ;-) It could be perfectly innocent and she just happens to know about it (she could be a seller, might have had problems in the past, etc.) but it's enough to make my spideysense tingle just a little.

How much is the item in question? Recorded mails cover about £34,it seems a lot of deal she making for £34 or less,how desperate or what?

When you track and trace recorded delivery online you can request the signature and name of the person who received it so you can email that to the buyer maybe someone else signed for it and didn't give it to them. Apart from that and them checking online for themselves all they can do is call their local depot and the managers can ask the postman in question but you have done all you can
