ebay help

I recently sold a ipod touch on ebay, it was tested and all before sending it (my brother used it daily) and only sold it to fund for an xbox. The buyer mailed me today saying they want a return address to return it, claiming it freezes and does not synch. Any ideas what to do? It was working before I sent it. Never had a problem like this before and I'm pretty sure ebay will side with the buyer.

#2

#3
then shouldn't you be able to claim it on that?
#4
What blame royal mail?

But I know it wasn't, it was packaged very well. I'm convinced they are just being awkward.

Did you make a note of serial number? If so I'd ask buyer for serial number first.

If not I'd ask for a photo of the item they intend returning because unfortunately some people use ebay as a way of swapping their dud stuff for working items.

Hope this is not happening to you.

Will do that now.

I didn't no. Didn't even think of anything like that. Worried now as I've (or my bro even, has spent the cash).

was just going to suggest that, sounds dodgy but it happens, espcially with RROD 360s.... :x

Sons Ipod has been freezing alot recently.
We went to the Apple bar in the Trafford centre.
The chap looked at it and said one of the main reasons for this is not using the eject ipod on the bottom right hand side of user bar.
This causes the ipod to corrupt.
Sometimes it could be if the songs that have been downloaded are slightly missing some information too...Suppose it depends where they have been downloaded from!!!
So the chap reset to factory settings and put some sample songs on.
Been fine no problems at all since.

Hope this makes some sense.

Not sure what to do, I know for a fact it worked before sending it, and it was packaged very well for postage and sent special delivery (to cover myself). What happens if I refuse?

tell them to hold the on button and the home button for 10-15 secs
then plug it into pc.
The ipod is likely to be in the restore mode, due to low battery.
The one i got on xmas day did this and i didn't realise, until i swapped it and read around on the net

I've emailed them advising them of this.

They'll probably put in a claim to paypal as item not as described. You can argue it was working perfectly, but i'm afraid paypal will more than likely find in their favour and try to get the money back from you.Hopefully i'm wrong though.

Could I not close my paypal account? The item was 100% working before sent and is only 2-3 months old. I may offer to send them the shop reciept.

A bit drastic but if you do remember to close the backup credit card too.

Whats that? it is drastic but don't really wanna lose £125 quid and the Ipod.

Off to bed, work in the morning. Can't find nothing on personal seller returns policies.

This wont help as the credit card company are still liable to any expenditure on the card even after closure. This then gets passed on to the owner of the card.

If its only a few months old & you still have the reciept then it should still be under warranty ?

Do they buyers know its under warranty? If I had bought an item like that I would probably be happy to look into whats involved in getting it sorted.

Again if it is under warranty then that basically does show that it almost certainly was working before you sent it (why would you flog a broken item if you could claim on the warranty?)

Having said that paypal would almost certainly find in their favour - They offer ****** all protection for sellers.

If it does come to them sending it back make it clear that you made a note the serial No (even if you didnt) might put them off if they are at it.

In future, always do what I do and covertly mark the item such as a small dot inconspicuously with a dvd marker or ultra violet marker pen.

How do they (paypal) go about getting the money back? I'm finsihed with ebay now, they seem to offer no protection to the seller. Once this is over with and sorted I will close both my accounts ebay/paypal

Not 100% sure,i know if you have money in your paypal account they take it from there, don't know for sure if they can go into your bank account or credit card, mabye someone else could tell you.Seeing as it's still under warranty, you could always tell them to get it repaired or send it back and you would get it done and return it to them, but obviously don't offer a refund.

Have emailed them offering this, have no money in my paypal nor the accoutn that funds paypal, so not sure what would happen. I've put the ball in his court by offering to have it repaired (if found to be faulty).

Well if i bought the ipod from you and it wasn't working i would not be happy if you told me to get it sorted on the warranty and repaired i would want my money back.

i know man im sorry to hear this too, The other day i sent out a working good condition Ipod Photo through mail special delivery, and then the guy called me up saying it froze and it dont work etc and i said well thats weird and rubbish because it was working when i sent it to him, So then i left it for a couple of weeks caus i had exams and then texted him yday saying right sorry i haven't had time to post you money for delivery back to me and then he texted me back saying" M8 i sent it weeks ago" and wtf? it's not here so the guys blatantly lied and taken the ipod and saying it dont work :@ really makes me angry at selfish people like that :(

I'm pretty sure it would be a new one, if found faulty. I emailed him some 24hrs ago as yet no reply.
