Ebay help and advice needed

Sold an item on ebay this morning using auction format.
Sent off the invoice and the buyer has just e-mailed asking can they cancel as they managed to get the item in the shops. They don't want neg feedback and are apologising for the inconvenience.
The item is a difficult item to get, most shops are sold out but I managed to get a few and am trying to make a profit.
Any advice on what I should do. The item is in the shops for about £15, but has been selling for £40 ish on feabay.

doesnt it state in ebay rules that once you have comitted to buy then thats it? i know there were exceptions but getting it in the shops was not one of them

2nd Chance If Possible And Neg Feedback

sellers cannot leave neg feedback.
this sort of thing will happen more and more on fleabay now cos of this :x

Not a lot you can do really. You can report them but unless they are a regular none payer Ebay will not do anything.

It is one of the things you have to live with on Ebay, unfortunately.

You could send a Second Chance offer to the next highest bidder (if there is one), ask the buyer to return the item to you at their own expense, and then refund them what they paid minus your delivery charge. It's a shame.

yup sadly u cannont leave neg feedback only thing you can do is report to get your fees back then they will get a strike, if they dont pay for another 2 items they get suspended or banned

The buyer has not yet paid so i presume the item has not been sent yet
and no refund is needed.
Agree with the above, the best thing to do would be to send a second
chance offer to the next highest bidder ( or even bidders if you have more than one
item available and the bid is high enough for you to make a decent profit! )

Good luck

cancel it n start again

buyers have rights under the dsr distance selling regulations anyway

You can open a non-paid item dispute straight away as mutual agreement, once the buyer agrees the dispute closes, your fees are refunded and they DON'T get a strike. If you waited 7 days and then do the report, you will get your fees back (on the 8th day after the report was opened) and the buyer gets a strike. You can't leave negative feedback for a buyer now :x

DSR's don't apply to auction sales, only BIN.

Nothing you can do.All you can do is get the buyer an unpaid item strike but this will take about 16 days and acheive nothing (Buyers will very rarelly make this error more than once to get suspended for it). The best you can do is get the buyer to agree to a mutual cancellation get your fees back and relist on a 1 day. One of the pleasures of dealing on Ebay. I am currently dealing with a buyer who bought multiple items and is after further discounts.

Personaly with the current climate i think its sad that you are making such a profit on items that are hard to find, and the reason they are hard to find is people buy alot of them and sell them on for profit which makes it hard for people to get them at the RRP i have tried for a while to get a certain item with no luck but will not pay the silly prices on ebay i would rather wait and see after christmas when all the items are back to RRP and plenty of them because people wont be bulk buying them for profit.
I am not getting on at you but i think its sad thats all.
Good luck.:whistling:

sadly this isnt always the case. Ive been reading ebays forums a bit the last few days ( funny bunch)
there are sellers who comment on the boards who have 5+ strike and nothing is done bout it.
Not being able to leave neg feedback as a seller is the biggest gripe, then paypal, then the fees.
seems there are new scams round also, the last one i noticed was a high end item , paid using paypal, got the item then chargeback, seller ends up with no money or item.

to the OP second chance it if you can , tell you current buyer that you will need to report them for non payment so you can claim your fees back,

what is chargeback i heard about this but dont really understand

great advice guys, thanks to all.
It's been a while since I dabbled in ebay. So ta for getting me upto speed a little.
Guess I'm gonna have to let this one go. No real point in getting them a strike.
Problem is, it's getting close to Xmas and getting difficult to promise delivery.
and yes it is sad that I have made a bit of cash for spotting a potential profit maker, but it's even more sad that I have to pay ebay and paypal close on 10% of the money made.

as others have said, do a second chance offer and ask initial buyer to make up the difference.
