Hi folks,

have a little question about Ebay.....

If you don't use paypal (Seller doesn't accept it) what is the protection on purchases? The seller I want to buy off has Zero feedback due to being new....would I be a complete mug to bid off them?

Thanks

I personally wouldn't bid on a item that a seller is selling with zero feedback. As they say, better be safe than sorry!
You also have no protection at all if the seller doesn't accept paypal.

I wouldn't risk buying anything expensive from a new zero feedback seller.

If the item you are buying is of significant value id consider using other sellers who use paypal.
I had to claim from one seller who sent me a dodgy copy of microsoft office 2007 and he was selling this as genuine. yes you know who you are mr hussain.

luckily i paid £43 by paypal and i escalated this to paypal straight away and after a few wks i got all my money back in full.
If i hadnt paid by paypal i think i would of struggled to get a penny back.

Thanks Guys & Gals,

Though it was against my better judgement I was watching the item, but decided not to bid. I was after the Sopranos Complete Box-set. I have tried so many times to get this and keep getting broken ones or Asian copies with dodgy picture.

Does anyone know where I can get this cheap? I only want the british boxset but am having no luck whatsoever....

BTW Rep added to all, thanks folks, much appreciated!:)

The original post is here : http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/159579/ebay-concern/

Basically a new seller was selling Bumblebees, car stereos and coffee makers. All the same item, no paypal. At first he was accepting cheques then suddenly changed all his listings to PO only. At last count he had sold over £2300 worth of gear then ebay pulled him, pulled all his listings (most of which had been finished over a week so probably paid for) and sent the normal TKO, do not pay message to the buyers. That last bits a guess, but it's standard ebay cover up policy:x Net result, nothing actually happened as there were never any listings in the first place, and if anybody disagrees.... PROVE IT. You can't, and it happens all the time:-(
