Hi I was bidding on a guitar hero world tour drum kit which said free P + P but after I bid i realised it was only collection (130 miles away). It is now too late to retract my bid, so i contacted the seller and he has said he can give it to a courier for £20 but this leaves the total price at £5 less than retail price. And i dont really want to pay that much.
I know it is my fault and i should pay for it etc, but how do we work out postage charges do i have to fork out whatever he wants me to pay?

How about YOU arrange the pickup via courier?
Comes you a lot cheaper that way :)
(only about 7 to 8 pounds depending on which one you use)

Of course the seller has to agree to it first...
If he doesn´t, you´ll have to pay of course.

i would pay as i would feel guilty.

you could tell him not having the item and he can start a dispute.
He cant leave you a neg though you deserve it.

Is charging £20 for a courier when it can be done for £7 or £8 right?

Normal post costs more than a courier plus he would have to carry the kit to the PO
and I´m sure he´s not up for that. I know I wouldn´t be...

EDIT: if it hasn´t ended yet, why haven´t you just withdrawn the bid as soon as you saw that it´s pickup only?

As above, shop around with couriers and propse this to to him. I'm sure he will agree as he knows you have made a genuine mistake. If not, fingers crossed you get outbid.

Good luck.

if you dont like the price, suggest you pay for relisting costs and ask him to cancel sale. he may be obliging. otherwise pay and be wiser next time, have paid for that mistake myself.

I cant retract i bid this morning its past 1 hour ive already tried. Now the seller doesnt seem to be replying. Thanks for the parcel2go suggestion they've quoted me under £7.
BTW thanks so much all of you i appreciate this.
I've contacted him and said i can arrange a courier.
If i put dimensions that are bigger than actual dimensions it will be ok right? as i dont know exact box dimensions i am just guessing 1m x 50cm x 20cm (anyone out there know the dimensions??? lol)

Ive just been stern with him and said:
1. withdraw my bid
or
2. I will arrange a courier

this will cause him no hassle

Mardyass: are you sure he can withdraw my bid, if so this would probably be best.
thanks again

I am glad it's all worked out well in the end though.

i think its when u see free post its a little off putting maybe there should be a way of putting collection only in the top part and not just free when i see free i always double check cos there is somtimes things in the listing insted of at the top, glad it worked out well for you and for him :)

Wow it's buyers like you which mean sellers should be able to neg, If you had of won, YOU make a mistake and write an email like that TELLING the seller what they are going to do, unbelievable.
Maybe the seller had collection only due to not having sufficient packaging or the time to wait for a courier, and you got snotty and expected him to do this out of thin air, wow.

and no i didnt demand anything or expect him to obey me or something I only offered the suggestions, It may have looked like i was demanding it on here but i just summed it up.
I know that if he doesnt want to comply he doesnt have to as i made the mistake but by the sounds of some of the posts here he was also in the wrong by claiming £20 for a courier. Anyway i'm glad it was simply resolved. wont happen again I assure you.

The seller was at fault, he ticked the wrong boxes when listing. Should have been forced to send it for freeeee
