Ebay help please

Hi

My daughter has won and paid for an ebay item, a dvd. She has now been informed by the seller that although P& P is free on the listing she must pay additional costs for it.

Now normally I would just say don't pay it but the seller has put a load of t&c's in the listing and I am now not sure

Would be really grateful for any advice

Thanks in advance

You should read the feedback, others have complained about postage and reported.

TRIPLED ESTIMATED POSTAGE COSTS WITHIN MINUTES OF BUYING - REPORTED TO EBAY ( 1318) 21-Nov-09 15:16

Ye they're being stupid. So many fools on eBay it p***** me off. Report them, and wipe the floor with them
#11
The problem is they are selling something for 99p then they have to mail it,so they will be out of pocket.but evidently they are trying to save fees by listing it for free at 99p instead of listing it higher and paying.

Would just report to ebay as he is breaking rules all dvds i beleve have to be listed with free p&p so he is trying to get around it. Has he sent you an invoice yet? If so has he added postage to the invoice?

She paid instantly but has now received an email asking for postage costs
#13
She has now reported to ebay, thanks again for all your help
#14
Speak to ebay, see what they say, then you can email back telling them what was said, and will be reported etc if not sent.

Just DONT pay the extra, and if he dont send leave NEG feedback and get your 99p back with paypal and report to ebay as item not received.
He trying his luck but i think its about to run out. I just emailed him asking about another dvd he selling and asked if it was free P&P as it states in the listing i got message back right away saying it would be applied when listing ends as he dont know how to add postage costs to his listing, even though he has other items listed with Postage added, he just a out and out scammer IMO.
#19
I think it's wrong though that ebay make you offer free p&p when selling certain items.

Surely a sensible limit i.e. £1 should have been put in place rather than free. DVDs cost around £1 to post.

At least then you wouldn't get extortionate p&p or sellers asking for more money!
#20
Theres other things as well, your daughter agreed on the price and made a contract when she paid, the seller breaches that by now asking your djaughter doesnt have to pay :)
#21
he is clearly in the wrong and the terms and conditions he has put on his listing go against ebay rules so should not be allowed.

The cheeky b****** have now sent her an email saying...

Hi

Ebay do not allow sellers to stipulate a price for deliveries on all dvd's and items of a similar size. In addition, terms of sale state that the postage and packing fee listed on the page is an estimate and is subject to change. The terms of sale also state that you must not pay until invoiced. It will cost 0.45 to package this and around 0.60 gbp to send it Royal Mail first class.

If you cannot pay the outstanding balance you have not followed my terms of contract and i must refund you and cancel the transaction. Please let me know what you intend to do thankyou.

Take the refund.

Send the seller this link stating they are NOT allowed to charge for P+P as per Ebays rules shown below.

Report to ebay, defo. They should NOT put 'FREE P&P' in the P&P costs box if it's subject to change. Some sellers who do not yet no the rate of P&P at the start of an auction will have 'Contact seller for rates' stated, not 'FREE P&P'. Simply false advertising and against ebay's TOS.

Neg them too. Shouldn't be selling on ebay.

The only time when p+p is acceptable for dvd/games is if the package is considered excessive eg giant special editions (eg rock band).
