OP you will have to make it clear to bidders that if they are the highest bidder they must send you say £50 deposit first due to Non payers who continually break ebay rules by not paying & wasting your time & also point out to bidders it's in the bidders interest to view the car first before bidding.

Goes on a lot in the ebay car sales, people don't look at it until they go to pay for it. If it is a distance to travel I suppose they can't do it twice.

Did the buyer indicate that it was not as described for the reason he pulled out, if so you may need to ammend it to stop this happening again.

I sold a Yaris a few years back just short of £3000 & the winning bidder messaged me after the Auction & said I'll come & view in the next few days & we can come to some sort of deal :-/
He was hoping on getting the car for less than his final bid.
The 2nd highest bidder then collected the car with no probs.

I would suggest stating you require a deposit at the end of the auction winin 24 hours of £50 to £100.

Otherwise........ the other option is to just use EBAY as a advert tool to get people round and do a cash sale outside of ebay.

Anybody that buys a car on ebay is a dick as without seeing it first how can you tell what its like or how it runs ?
#15
you cant but if the seller has 1500 positive feedback a buyer tends to trust i think.

thought you had to pay fees if you cancelled an auction, otherwise every car seller would do this; even when sold.

Yes if you cancel the auction u have to pay........best is to do a none payment and get your insert fee back!!!!

Even if you state you wan't a deposit if the buyer decides they don't want the car and they file a dispute item not as described ebay/paypal will side with the buyer anyway.
#19
you can only cancel it if the buyer agrees..
