I couldn't believe this but a couple of days ago we sold our sons motocross bike on Ebay...well we have just gone through the listings to see what the others were going for and someone is selling their bike using our picture! Is that allowed? I don't know how they have even managed it.

There is a page that you report a listing to as it's a breach of listing, that your pic was copied,it be gone by this time tomorrow if you report it now.

I don't see it as a big problem to be honest.

Is it a copyrighted picture?

i agree but it meens the buyer is not going to really get what they are paying for or they could be doing it to rip buyers off

Any picture you take is copyrighted

report it it will disaper

does it really matter? sure its a bit cheeky, but as long as they are selling the same bike in same condition(which no one except the seller would know about) its not ripping anyone off. Maybe they just dont have a digital camera.

was a bed in my kids room not very happy to see it.

how do you change a pic on someone elses auction?:?

If you host your own images elsewhere, on your own website say, and someone else nicks your photos from ebay, without actually downloading them to your own pc, by just linking to the photos.

Then, if you change your original pictures on your website, but keep the same filename etc, the theifs pics will change also. 'cause his ebay pics is just pointing to yours.

So if I post this logo from mse from this link.... http://images.moneysavingexpert.com/images/masthead/martinLogo.gif

http://images.moneysavingexpert.com/images/masthead/martinLogo.gif

Now, If Mr lewis changes the photo, it will change here. (i hope)

Its more of a (potential) problem to the buyer rather than you, surely?? I'd get it removed for that reason, not becuase it infringes your intellectual copyright, or hurt your feelings in some bizarre way

But they won't use a link they will just right click and save, then upload ?
#23
most people do that yes, especially if they only use one image to upload on ebay. but some people(me included) use picture links to have multiple pictures in your listings without paying ebay extra to have more pics....and if they cant be bothered to download the picture, and host it on imageshack etc, they will just link to the picture to save time, thats when the fun starts. Ive witnessed a few highjacks and helped on a few also.
