I just got this email, prices were high before this is just outrageous! Goodbye ebay.

Madness!

This is the start of them to slowly get rid of the average joe seller and hope to have just the big brands on board. Won't be much fun for them by killing of those who made them what they are today
#4
this will spit out the private sellers and allow the commercial sellers to take control

kiss goodbye to the genuine bargains on offer

shocking 10% then plus paypal charges

gulp!

Surely it's time for Google to start an auction site and leave ebay to do the commercial stuff

I've started selling my stuff locally on facebook. saves the messing around with ebay

It will obviously put up the price for buyers as well - this might be the opportunity for a genuine competitor to Ebay to succeed.
#9
Ridiculous! The charges are high enough already

Lucky i don't sell many technology items of 300 quid value X)

You can pay a £49.49 fee to them and get NO listing fees and NO final value fees! for life + a couple of other benefits. This site is growing. Ebay has had this market on lock down for many years now but greed is getting the better of them and greed can ruin a business
#14
I wont be using ebay any more... will be using the smaller sites, or free sites. Id rather sell an item on hukd, or qxl than for £275 and sell it on ebay for £300.

Yeah I know mate, their prices seem really fair. Why do people persist with a company who blatently take the mick out of its customers and try to "woo" them with crappy free listing weekends which save you about 10p!

I actually use ebay a lot so this sucks (as a buyer).
#22
madness!
was allready a rip off before this, sooner or later sellers will think it isnt worth it anymore with the amount of ebay and paypal fees and good % of ebay buyer messabouts
also the system of sellers cant leave bad feedback puts me off aswell
R.I.P EBAY.
#23
Absolutely pathetic. Can't believe the change is being made out to help sellers "make it simpler and easier to calculate up-front the fees". Just simply outrageous.... as if they don't make enough money anyway
banned#24
Inb4 everyone says they won't use eBay again then continue selling on there.

Bring back the power to the people... If they can afford to charge businesses just 2-3%, and still make shed loads of money at the end of it, they can afford to do something favourable and fair for the private sellers

about time they moved their charges into the real world, Hopefully they will start charging the buyers a 20% premium like a real auction soon as well
#27
Love the way these companies raise fees and then say its for our benefit so we can understand things more clearly!
#28
I WILL NOT use eBay again........
But that's mainly as they have banned me from selling as apparently I charged too much for my postage, surely they set a maximum limit for postage, I can't charge more than that so they are idiots, off to eBid I go :)

HUKD/FO.LK FTW!

The 10% is only on "Buy it Now" items.
Maybe they are trying to force more people into actual auctions rather than set prices. (_;)

Auction fees have been 10% for a while
#32
Very bad news.

Ebay is getting **** by the moment.
#33
But what to do? ebid has far too few users and Google probably won't start an auction site because ebay are one of their biggest advertisers.

I guess we could hope that some regulator or other realises that ebay are abusing their monopoly by locking people into Paypal.

Otherwise, just sell on HUKD.

"make it simpler and easier to calculate up-front the fees"

Id rather be confused and pay allot less then understand the "simpler" new system and hate them for having to pay more. What complete ****.

everyone should boycot listing any items for sale for one day only-preferably on a saturday and teach them a very expensive lesson in not taking the mickey out of a captive audience.

so everyone doesn't list on a saturday and list instead on the sunday - how will that cost them anything?

I've been trading on Ebay for 5 years as a business seller. I quit listing last week, and will not be returning. The way Ebay treat their paying customers (ie sellers) is outrageous. No I haven't been banned or restricted, just had enough of their increasingly business-unfriendly policies. Just read the seller forums on Ebay's own site - I'm not alone.

Panic @ head office this is the power we have etc etc

No point complaining, nothing will change. It’s the same thing every few years when eBay do something new like removing ability for sellers to neg, introducing star ratings, forcing sellers to list with Paypal etc. Also no point in trying to use the whole people power thing and stop listing for 1 day etc as even if there were 100 of you who did this, bet your bottom dollar there are 1000 other sellers who couldn’t give a monkey’s and will be happy that their chosen market is free of other competitors for the time period. It’s simple really, if you want to continue using eBay just bend over and make sure you have plenty of Vaseline and don’t moan about it, or list at the many other places available such as Amazon, Facebook, Gumtree, here, AV forums etc.

lol @ list at amazon
So you are complaining about ebay fees but are happy to list elsewhere where it costs a lot more to sell your stuff? Strange

http://tamebay.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/eBay-vs-Amazon-Seller-Fees.jpg

there are much worse things ebay have done recently than increase fees, forcing or encouraging free postage, taking away the seller being able to neg, DSR's, powerseller discounts and most recently taking away the ability to bulk email buyers
