Ebay - INR - How long should I wait before filing complaint?

Bought something cheap from ebay last weekend - £5 all in. P&P said buyers standard rate, I paid immediately. It's a small thing and should fit in an envelope and through my door. It's not listed as dispatched, and the buyer has not replied to my request for delivery information which I sent on Saturday - being 7 days after my payment. How long should I leave it before filing a proper INR with ebay? Cheers!

You have 45 days to file a Paypal claim so there's no rush, the item might arrive and then it's not as described so then you have to mess about trying to change the claim.

Personally i would wait a few more days.

Is their feedback ok,are they new etc?

Feedback is good, 6 negs in 12 months, all out of stock, refund issued but took too long. They are a proper business seller with a high street shop somewhere up north, but seem fairly new (12 months old on ebay). I'm happy to wait, but don't know what the etiquette is on how long to wait! I've bought some more from a real shop now, as I needed it for my blind making episode, but I could always use some more, so will be happy to get the stuff, or a refund... either way.

They might just be slow,i had the same when buying curtains recently, took nearly a week to despatch.
2nd class can sometimes be slow too and if something is sent standard parcels even longer.

If it were me,i'd try emailing again tomorrow, if you don't hear back within a couple of days, file the claim.

delayed post can't be classed as lost for 15 working days if sent by Royal Mail. Being that you asked the seller for delivery info on Saturday I would give them time to answer as some sellers don't work 24 / 7 despite the internet being live all the time. I've had letters packets turn up late both here and at the recipient. Whilst we all want our purchases yesterday third parties are involved so bear with the seller and no doubt you will have your item soon.

Have you checked when the item would be dispatched, some sellers put 2 days some put 10, check the listing and see what it states.

Thanks both for your replies. I'll give it until the end of the week, and if no response or item, file the claim good job it was not for a present - I always ship my stuff immediately, so get a bit irritated when others don't do the same!

also many sellers dont state if they have despatched the item. I say around 1 out of every 5 sellers i buy from let me know they have despatched and to be honest i forget to do it most of the time. So it coul,d be that it has been sent, but you just need to wait on Royal Mail

Completely agree, I always post same or next day (inc Saturday but obviously excluding Sunday) as payment received so I too get narked when it takes someone 4 days to post stuff! I would leave messgae them again, leave it till tomorrow, then start a dispute personally. It seems to give some people a kick up the backside to respond. Fortunately I have only ever had to do it once, ebay refunded in less than 50 seconds, yes seconds so think it was a dodgy seller!

As a seller though I ask for my auctions to be paid for within 48 hours. Still get a few who take the mickey, I give em 4 days, multiple messages asking if they still want item, estimated payment date etc etc, if no response I start a case, 99.9% of them then pay instantly and you get 'oh, my broadband has been on the blink so not been on the net' fairly frequently (even though they left feedback for someone else 2 days before lol!

The way I look at it: don't buy if you are not willing to pay within 24 hours & don't sell if you won't post within 24 hours. If everyone operated like that ebay would be a much better place!

unfortunately ebay says to give 7 days for payment so you cant really complain if someone takes 7 days!
