I sent items to two different people in germany on the 28th july, one person received their item on monday but the other hasn't so i'm guessing royal mail may have lost it! I really have no idea what to do as i am new to selling and till now it had been going well. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks.

Did you get proof of postage?

I feel because of so many scammers he may be fibbing as there no way you would know he'd received. Without a tracking number.

did you get a proof of posting from the post office when you posted your item? and can i ask how much is was/is worth?
#3
It wasn't recorded so all i have is a receipt. The value was about £20.00, just an item of clothing.

you will have to refund and file a claim with royal mail,if they start a PP dispute they will side with the ebuyer

always send by recorded

I'd say they've probably got it..............it's just they know that without proof of delivery they can have the item and the money back. Easy freebie.

Happens a lot on eBay. Best bet is to stick to the UK and send everything via trackable method.

Can you send recorded international.

Personally I would never send abroad unless you have had massive comms and are satisfied. Sent a laptop to Spain. Though I felt crap all the way up until they left feedback then they had no way of claiming otherwise.

You can send signed for but it's still only tracked whilst in the UK.

Only safe option for outside UK is USPS etc.

Is the receipt enough proof? It doesn't say it is for that particular item so i wasn't sure.

They did ask if i had a tracking number so no idea if they have it or not.

you can send international signed for or airsure and most countries can be tracked online for delivery but not all

if you got them to put the postcode on the postage recipt you would be fine but still worth a try even if you havn't i reckon. ive never done it tbh as i always send recorded but i know my mum has had to a few times but she needed to provide recipts for the items.

yeah i think its an extra £3.60 odd for international signed for. not to bad if the buyer pays the extra but most time they don't won't to?

i always offer signed for then say LOOK IF IT DON'T ARRIVE YOU SHOULD PAY EXTRA.

but then theres the scam sellers who never send and say but i sent it?

i dunno ebay is no fun these days

It's strange cos i've sold around 30 items in the space of a month all around europe and even australia and have had no problems. I've just checked my messages and they actually took around 10 days to pay! I think i'll give it a try and see what happens!

I avoid sellers who say crap like that, its the sellers responsibility that it gets there and the sellers responsibility to prove it has got there, the tracked/signed for services dont benefit the buyer just the seller, I use it where I need to for peace of mind on sales.

fully agree, any seller who puts"I am not responsible for items lost in the post" is a total idiot,I avoid like the plague

my mum has beenb selling old computer games and clothes and stuff hanging around the house and always sends it first second class regular post, i told her to watch out as people will say they havnt received it even if they have not sending it recorded but the majority she has had no problems with either. so who knows if they have or havnt but seems the majority of people are quite honest and with the amount of mail sent, im sure a lot goes missing within the postal system in 1 place or another
