I bought an iphone off ebay, Now i am certain he isnt going to send it and isnt repling to my emails. And even the phone number given is wrong....

I payed with paypal so i should hopefully be covered, but when i try to make a case it tells me that i have to wait till the 1st of june untill i can file a case.

Just wondering if there is anyway to avoid the waiting time. Becuase im certain he is a scammer.... :l

Sounds like you're not giving enough time for them to actually post it? (Im sure its about 10days till you can start a item not received claim??).. How long has it actually been since you paid?

You can report to ebay for his/her details not being correct though.

Report him for false contact details.
#3
I payed him, and before paying him asked a few questions, he promised he would send out next day and let me know. ..
After i made the payment, i have not heard a whisper from him... i am certain becuase i have been using ebay for years and years.

Just wondering if there was a way to speed up the process, its just bugging me that some dick has robbed me and all i can do is wait. :(

Plus id rather get my money back first before reporting him to false contact details.

No way to avoid the wait, how much feedback have they got?

Zero, but i thought it was worth a punt He listed it as used, and seemed genuine through emails. Obviously regret it now.

So you won the auction and THEN started asking questions about it thus delaying payment? No wonder he isn't replying as that would annoy me too :D
When did you pay?

And you've been using ebay for years!?! You said it was worth a punt and it didn't work out so no point moaning about it now. You knew what you were letting yourself in for

genuine through emails? so if i emailed you saying " Hi, im a genuinely good scammer i mean guy, could you lend me £1000 till payday which is soon, il pay you back dont worry about that thanks remember i am genuine " you would do it? sorry to be harsh but anyone can act/seem different in an email, email doesnt mean anything, and you cant of been using ebay that much within your years experience and you would know that 70% of iPhones on ebay are scams.

Sorry for wall of text just cant be arsed today.

Yeah your right. Sometimes you win sometimes you don't. I was just wondering if there was a way to file a case now instead of waiting. But ill probably have to wait.

Zero feedback - this guy has nothing to lose.
Genuine through email - I could persuade you through email that I have a ferrari, I don't so you wouldn't get it.

You took the punt knowing that there is a good chance you wouldn't get it, but also knowing you were covered by paypal. So now stop moaning and resort to your already thought of plan B and claim in a few days and push paypal fees up for the rest of us.
#13
Plus seeing as he has zero feedback, the money in the paypal account would be on hold (untill 21days, or i leave pos feedback), so he cant do anything with it..

So i dont really understand the point. :l

oO
I think its hard to trust on there at the best of times, but zero feedback and parting with a large amount of cash.. *shakes head*
The email thing too.. what did you want him to say.. "yeah, Im a scammer" Hes bound to come across genuine when he wants your wonga!
If there were no signs at all, you didnt get any ill feeling then maybe it is genuine and he/she is new to ebay and just hasnt got around to posting it.. You havent said when you actually paid yet, have you?
I started up a new account on Ebay (for selling only) and mistakingly got my address wrong (nothing major.. just missed off the house number! lol) The first I knew about it was someone emailing me to tell me.

I do feel for you, its not nice being taken for a ride, but I think you've just got to wait it out Im afraid.
I wouldnt worry about reporting the incorrect details, just do it anyway.. it wont have any affect on your claim.

You have to wait 7 days to open an INR case,so you must only have just bought it,so there's time for you to actually receive it,fingers crossed.

If he has another Ebay account and has just linked his Paypal to the new one, I dont think the money will be on hold? I could be wrong.

3 days isn't long at all, but I can see why you're worried.. its a lot of money and they said next day postage.
Fingers crossed he gets in touch soon and has just been delayed :) (Trying to be optimistic!)

Either way, good luck :)

They said they would send out the next day after payment, not have it delivered the next day. Far too early to complain imo :)

Do not worry about it, your money is safe so just wait. I know people on here are blaming you for buying in the first place, but at the end of they day some people have to start somewhere, this person could be perfectly legitimate and there could be a genuine reason for the delay.

Just wait a few days.

I was thinking he won and paid on Tuesday, item posted next day/Wednesday as promised (post #4) and should have been there yesterday by special/before 9am delivery (due to the cost of the item, and a signature and enough comp cover needed).. Unless they have just posted it out by 2nd standard or something. But he did say he would let him know, so 3 days with no reply, the contact details looking sus, coupled with the zero fdbk... I can see why OP is worried thats all. :)

Anyway Skweezer, good luck. Hopefully you get it. Just annoys me when scumbags rip people off.

You should wait a few days, then contact Paypal and ebay. There is a phone number for ebay, and probably paypal too if you look around. Mention that you are going to report the crime to the Police - Paypal paid attention to me in the past when I said this. Also point out to Paypal, that they longer they delay, the less chance there is of catching the fraudster (assuming the phone doesn't arrive in a few days I think you can safely assume its not going to).

Amusingly I got scammed selling a phone a few years back (when I was young and naive), I paid with a bank transfer and shipped to Lituania (like I said, young and naive :-). I contact the Lituanian Police, and about a year later had an email from the police saying they had caught the guy, and that he was in court. He ended up paying me back a whole lot of money. Good luck..

Even though the seller said they would despatch next day, what was on the auction, postage wise,SD,RD,1ST Class?
#28
SD (1st class) estimated date is 1st june.

Ive rang up ebay, they said that id have to wait and put a claim in as soon as i can. And that he cant really do anything with the money becuase it will be on hold in his account.

took a while...what's the story?
#34
Not much really, its just that the system they have requires waiting. Fist wait 7days before you can put in a item not received dispute, Then wait another 10 days for a seller to respond. If he doesn't within 10 days then raise the dispute, and then ebay will have a look at it and within 2 days make a decision.

No problems at all getting the money back, just waiting can be a bit of a pain. But worth it in the end :)
