i have bought 7 items from one seller namely clothes, recieved them today. Just as i opened it, it smell stink of cigarette smoke. I wouldnt pay a penny for these clothes or take it even if its for free.

What is my right of returning them and getting the postage back?

Paid via paypal.

unfortunatly you wont get your postage costs back, are you sure the smell isnt from the packaging, i know sometimes things stink if not wrapped correctly, and a wash would sort this

if they just smell, then surely a wash will sort this, rather than lossing two lots of postage :?

no, you wont get postage costs back for them sending, nor for your cost returning, also will need to be sent by a trackable method

If the item is supposed to be BNWT and it isn't then you can certainly go down the "not as described" complaint route via Paypal. Try contacting the seller first, only resort to a Paypal dispute if you're not getting anywhere with them.

very doubtful you would get your postage back (unfair I know) maybe best to cut your losses, wash them as suggested & put them back on Ebay ?

I bought a bundle of kids clothes listed as designer, some brand new with tags and the rest perfect condition( no photo on the listing though). When they arrived, it was dirty old stained clothes covered in dog hair that stank to high heaven. None being designer in the first place unless george at asda as suddenly become designer. I started a paypal dispute with the not as described route but paypal found in the sellers favour and i ended up binning the clothes:x

I got a pair of jeans from ebay, seller stated that they were from a smoke free home. My god the smell of smoke on them was awful. I have washed them twice now and they still smell.

Paypal dispute and contact seller, start washing them and then it will be impossible to win dispute.

I quite like the smell of smoke.

ohhhhh i have had that its discusting, if they smell sooooo much and you wash them even three times or more it just doesn't take away the smell. I have had things arrive like that, sometimes not even clothes its toys and its just buried in it. Don't wash them , well i wouldn't as there is very little chance the smell would go if its that bad. Plus then you can't give as a gift. I'd open a snad on ebay and state they stink, they are not suitable. I think you would get your money back plus postage but it would be there you'r repsonsibility to pay for the return postage and make sure you send them back recorded otherwise they may well say they haven't received them.
Paypal usually find in the buyers favour (apart from on the other page with the clothing, maybe because of no photo??) its a pain sometimes as a seller, but good if youre the buyer. It's really aweful to have them arrive like that, hope it gets sorted.

just dont buy from ebay, its pointless, and im getting annoyed at all the posts about wrong items etc etc etc

If you bought on auction from a private seller technically you have no return rights however it it was a "buy it now" from a business seller then you have 7 days to return with no questions asked.

Yuck. I have no more advice than has already been given - open the SNAD - but I had that once and uggghhhh I it was so horrible and I was so disappointed. I did keep it though as I couldn't be bothered going through the hassle of paypal and me paying to return it.
Look for people who state 'Non smoking household' on their auctions or email them beforehand to make sure, that's what I do now as I'm a non-smokier and think the smoke smells 100x worse thanwhat smokers think.

bought two pairs of jeans on different occasiosn (same style but different colour) from DP online andboth of them also had an awful smell - like smoke. However i have bough many items incl jeans form them before that and since, and they have not had the same smell.

So maybe the smell might be with certain denim items, even if new.

BTW i just washed mine before wearing and the smell did go.
