Hello

I have sold a item for £997 on ebay, I am made up...

But just noticed the paypal fee of around £38, then looking at my ebay seller account the charge of £40+ in that.... The fact that paypal are owned by ebay annoys me.... Nearly 10% in fees......

Gutted....

Stopped using ebay. Only use it for stuff that I can't sell here or on other forums. Out pricing themselves badly.

I sell a lot on here now, this was a specialist item to be honest, with a very small market.... The price you pay for ebay exposure I suppose.

Maybe I should not of taken the paypal option....

the thing you have to bare in mind is would you have been able to get such a price without ebay ?

ebay have all the buyers and they can monopolise by putting the fees up as sellers still stay due to the fact is that no one else can offer the same amount of visibility to buyers

another decent auction website is needed but if any does become too big then ebay will buy them out .... it always happens

and yes i hate the fee rises too (i hardly use it now) i mainly use as a buyer than a seller
#7
what did you sell?
#8
i tend to seel things on here more now too cos the mejority of the timesyou can get what you want, at a decenyt price without having the auction and the fees ect

Is it possible to ask for bank transfers on Ebay. I've loads to sell and need to get round to it and was thinking of just having a account for transfers in. This would save paypal costs. And just transfer the money out to your normal account.
Whats the rules on this or thoughts????????

They force you to offer paypal & people just pay this way, its apparently for security but we all know its them forcing us so they can make more money!

I just hope it's not a scammer buyer as they WILL get their money back (via CC chargeback) leaving you out of pocket

ebay will soon insist that you offer free postage as well, they have already started to implement this on certain items i think.

selling computer games etc is really not worth it anymore as they charge 10% ebay, PLUS your paypal charges, pricing themselves right out of the market i got so angry i made this group http://www.quidco.com/quidclans/anti-ebay-clan
