I listed an item on eBay and the postage was £6, I have received payment by Paypal and the postage cost is showing as £5? How can this happen, can the buyer change the postage amount when paying through Paypal?

They might be able to deduct, im not sure really
#2
yes they can deduct but theres a setting in your ebay preferences that you can use so that they cant change the stated amount :)
#3
really how do you deduct shipping charges???
#4
Why did they deduct the postage fee are you charging to much ?
#5
in the payment box it has reductions/additions or something to that effect and you just + or - the amount by whatever you want

had it happen to me a few times before i realised i could change the settings so they could not alter an invoice!

yes you can minus postage when paying via paypal. i dont think most sellers would be happy to post your item if you did that though.

by the way ebay is run by people with bananas in the wrong place

The buyer said it wasn't showing a postage amount when they paid through Paypal and they were prompted to enter something, which I find highly unusual. Their feedback is only 2 and they have said they are not really sure what they are doing. Just to make it worse the listing clearly stated the shipping cost was to the UK, the winning bidder is from Ireland!! So not only did they enter a lower amount it's not even enough.

They have agreed to pay the extra postage, I have sent a payment request to them via Paypal, just waiting for payment.

I'm getting more and more fed up with eBay, think I will call it a day after this one is finally resolved.

I have just found a whole range of settings in eBay where you can block bidders from countries you don't ship to etc etc. Wish I had known about all this before. Once you have logged in to your eBay account, on the left hand side under 'My Account' click on 'Site Preferences'. You can then change the settings to block certain bidders and not allow the postage amount to be changed.
