Check out http://pages.ebay.co.uk/pricechange08/

Listing fee is now 40p and final selling fee is a whopping 9.9%

Enough is enough

We need to boycott them or just stop using them FULL STOP

lucky, I rarely use the buy it now option

just had a look at the final value fees for normal listings tho, and it's hard enough for me to make money now, so i'll definately think about usage in the future

a price increase of 1.25% on low cost items is significant

That, together with ever increasing delivery costs could well be the downfall of eBay, I rarely buy anything on there these days, cheaper elsewhere.

Last time I sold something on Ebay the listing fee was 10p, maybe its time everyone switched to EBid.

I sold an Xbox on there for £75 the other day, I would have got £20 if I sold it on here, maybe £30 somewhere else

E-bay is the only place I could have sold it for that so even with the higher fee's i'm still better off selling on there

Sellers will just make up for it by charging higher P&P, i'll stop using it now but still sell items like the xbox on there, I don't buy from there anymore

For Ebay's management, i'm sure its just a case of changing a few numbers on a computer simulation to *maximise profits.* Because of its dominant market position, the only way they can continue the illusion of company growth is to milk their sellers. If you ask me, they should instead be diversifying their sales platform further & building up links with established companies. The policy of favouring big sellers will never have the desired effect because anyone with half a brain who's making a living off ebay will just set up their own e-commerce website. Any old idiot can do it (check out joomla if you're interested). They seem to forget that behind the numbers are real people, who are going to leave at an even faster rate after this price hike. All we need now is a competent rival... Anyhow, todays blatently obvious ebay share tip: SELL SELL SELL.

My brother is a lifelong labour supporter, and he said something about the current government which I can equally apply to Ebay;

"Everything they do p***es me off. "

And don't even get me started on paypal......

To lose almost 10% of a selling price, plus another 4% to PayPal is way, way over the top.

Profit is fine, but this isn't profit - it's profiteering, and misuse of a monopoly position.

Come on Google - time to enter the market and shake these b******s up.

Not to mention the shop fees going up from £6 to £14.99 a month !!

Here comes the fall of eBay, hopefully someone in thier management will dub these as preposterous, thats barmy 9%+ and ontop of that the manditory paypal fees.

Just like to point out that Ebay can even ban your account now if too many people complain about your postage prices. I tried to increase my postage costs to help cover the costs of Ebay and paypal and lo and behold, even tho I was getting positive feedback, people were rating my postage charges poorly and my dispatch time. Now Ebay have told me that I have to impove them or I will lose my account. How unfair is that on a seller? I cannot respond to negative feedback nor can I rate a customer on their speed of payment, communication etc like they can do with me and damage my reputation.

Ebay is totally unfair to its sellers, we have no voice and then they go and do this. I was already struggling before but I think this is the end for me with Ebay, I wasn't making much and now I won't make anything.

I hope it backfires on them because they have got too big for their boots and are now just greedy *******s because of their monopoly on the market.

Like someone said, I hope a viable rival emerges soon and I for one would love to see Ebay flop and go under.

All the more business for eBid............loads of people have switched already.

Another sad day for ebay.

I wonder how long it will be before they will allow sellers to keep 10% of the proceeds? Hold on though! That figure will decease if you receive payment through PayPal. They are truly greedy and wicked!

ebid looks a good alternative but its quite fiddly to search and read, obviously ebay wasnt built in a day and nor will its competitors be, but hopefully they will improve the interface and it will really give ebay a run for its money!

This is just getting silly, il never be able to make any money on ebay now!!

A couple of weeks ago i put 14 auctions on ebay, all of them different lots of baby clothes. 7 of them sold & 7 didn't, after paying ebay fees, paypal fees & sorting out P&P ( was hoping to make a tiny bit there to cover ebay fees but didn't work out)

I was left with a massive profit of £5.37!!!!

Iv got more clothes that i need to try sell/get rid of i doubt il be putting them on ebay now

Well hey thanks for that, will have to try it some stage, I will be giving ebay up for sure, I am not paying those kind of fees, I think they only want high business sellers anyway which is why they are kicking out the small guys.

eBid - looking mo' attractive!

Need a big player like Google to come in and who can spend millions on marketing to get a competitor site going. BRING ON GBAY!!!!

As soon as the interest is there eBay are screwed. Greedy evil beggars. Makes my blood boil.

Plus google could integrate Google checkout.
