Hi, need your help guys (especially dinostevens!)

I've purchased an item on Ebay (number 180043195263) and paid for it through PayPal. The email address given on ebay was [email protected] with the contact name and address as Steve Banks, orpington, Kent BR68BB United Kingdom.

Having paid for the item, i noticed payment went to 'Bob Jones' at the themail address [email protected].

The payment I sent is still waiting to be claimed through PayPal but as it is unclaimed, the transaction is not deemed as uncomplete and I am unable to open a dispute

I'm a little worried as a) it was a good price, b) His contact details are different and c) I have been unable to contact him.

Any advise guys?

Thanks in advance

If your really worried, get the payment cancelled now!
As its unclaimed you can do this.
#2
Go into your Paypal account and click on 'details' for this transaction. See if you have a 'cancel' button.
If so cancel the payment.
#3
Ummmm hold on a second, whilst i was just replying quickly to the above ive looked at the details now.
The person has 100% feedback. You only bought the item 24 hours ago, i know it doesnt say much but some people dont check ebay that much! :giggle:
Try and request his contact details and give him a ring if your really worried.
Hes sold 1 thing in the past an recieved posotive feedback so i shouldnt be too worried.
Just cancel your payment, and wait to hear back from him about where to send payment.

It could be something simple like he needs to add that email address to his Paypal account but you have NO Paypal protection on this item.
Why was the Mobile so cheap?????

If it seems too good to be true then it is.

I say cancel the Payment, is it worth the risk?
The seller sold an Xbox on the 25th for £140 and is sending it R/D. Ummmmmm. Not a good idea.

Ooooooooo, naughty:-
Will usually dispatch within 10 working days of receiving cleared payment.http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/s.gif
Naff picture as well, I'll see if he copied it from another listing.

Steve, ive also looked at what he sold, that xbox, and this phone the night before, but this person is no longer registered.
I agree, as steve said cancel your payment, im worried for you, specially with all the scamming going on lately and everyone seems to think the persons from kent - thats the person who scammed on here, not ebay!

I have no cancel button though........

I have no cancel button though........

You should have if it has not been 'claimed'.

Did you get his details from ebay?
#12
it's definitely unclaimed but there's no cancel button.

i got all of his details from ebay.

Just got off the phone with PayPal, they wouldn't cancel the payment I sent as they said it was up to the seller and I would have to wait until the seller had either accepted or rejected the payment.

I am also unable to open a dispute until the above happens either

I told PayPal I was cerain that I had been 'scammed' but PayPal said there was nothing they could do until the seller had actually taken the money.

call Paypal now...

edit: ah... too late

Ummmmmm, very strange:-

https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/i/help/help_a.gifYou can only cancel unclaimed payments. If your payment is complete, please contact the recipient of the payment to request a refund.

Unclaimed payments can be cancelled for the following reasons:

A payment sent to an email address is not associated with a PayPal account. Once the email address is added to a PayPal account, the payment is automatically credited to the balance of that account

A payment is sent to a recipient with an unconfirmed email address. For security reasons, PayPal can only credit payments sent to a confirmed email address.
If you cancel an Instant Bank Transfer, PayPal cannot cancel the withdrawal from your bank account. The amount will be credited to your PayPal account balance.

Log in to your PayPal account

Click the History subtab

Click Cancel in the Action column of the transaction in question

Click Cancel Payment

You have successfully cancelled the payment
Opening a Dispute or Issuing a Complaint against PayPal
https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_filing-claims

I wonder if it has been claimed?
You should be able to open a dispute if he has. If you can escalate it straight away. That should stop any money leaving his Paypal account.

Nice one, you paid with a Credit Card  You may have the backing (protection) from your credit card. That's fantastic, well done

Did you try clicking on both the transaction 'details'?
#19
Yeah, i've viewed the details of both transactions but no way I can cancel them.

PayPal have basically said I have to wait until the seller claims the money, if he doesn't within 30 days I'd auomatically get it back.

thanks for your help btw.

No probs

How about starting a dispute for Item Not Received through Paypal NOT ebay?
#21
can't do that until he accepts the payment.

All seems a bit weird to me. You'd think he would have taken the money by now.

I'll update the thread if anything happens
#22
call your credit card company asap and let them know you may have been scammed
#23
Was it a Credit Card as in Mastercard / Visa or was it a Debit Card? I know it said Crdit Card on the screenshot but Paypal seem to think they are all the same.

As Steffcip suggested, I would 'touch base' with your Credit Card provider if it was a credit card transaction. Just warn them you may be a victim of a scam.
#24
Steve, ive made a thread as i tried to pm you
#25
I used a Mint Mastercard to pay for the item.

Good idea - i'll touch base with them
#26
great withey

Any payment on a credit card of £100 or more gets extra protection under law I think?
Someone needs to tell that seller however that with his feedback he cannot get away with such dodgy differing e-mail setups, conditions etc.

NOT all Credit Card providers will Chargeback Paypal. Paypal is a payment processor ( a middleman if you like). Two of my six credit card companies won't.
