ebay query bit of an odd one

Not the usual seller backing out one either.

Sold an item on ebay and posted it on the first of Feb the buyer paid £20 plus postage at £7.50, this item has just been returned to me as undelivered, and uncollected from the sorting office, (was sent recorded).

What should I do now? The seller has had no activity on ebay since his purchase from me (total feedback 13).
Do I contact the seller or wait for them to contact me? If they claim INR with paypal what happens to the postage I have already paid? would I be left out of pocket for this?

Contact them and wait for response - I doubt they'd put in a claim as you have proof it was sent. Either they pay for it to be resent or you refund them minus postage costs

I had similar when my mum died suddenly, I wasnt in when parcel was delivered, twice and then forgot about collecting it from PO

I would send the buyer a message via Ebay - this way you have prove that you tried your best to get this sorted should you receive a paypal claim later on...

Hi,

I would contact the buyer and see if they want it to be sent out again and if there was any problems with it being delivered (ie wrong address etc) and if they do want it sent out again, say to them they will have to be charged for posting again.

If they don't want it sent out again, refund them the money, or if you don't hear from them within a week, send them a message explaining that the parcel had been sent but has been returned undelivered, you have contacted them to arrange a redelivery (subject to posting charges) and they either did not want it to be redelivered or there was no reply in a reasonable length of time, therefore the money has been refunded, minus the delivery costs.

i would contact them then if they dont reply see if you can claim your postage fees back. i had an item to pick up last month from the post office and couldnt think for the life of me what it was as i hadnt ordered anything, when i picked it up it was an item i had posted out from ebay in november and it hadnt been collected. it must of been sitting in a post office somewhere for sometime.

do you mean ebay fees? not sure where you'd stand on this unless you had contact with seller, and doesnt it have to be within a certain time limit

any fees really, i dont know if paypal or ebay would refund them but they should as if it was the other way round the buyer saying he hasnt got the item they more than likely always get there money back. its worth a try.

When this happened to me not long ago I emailed eBay for help, they didn't want to know.

It took the buyer the best part of a month to let me know it hadn't arrived. I went to my local Post Office and it'd been returned there. My resolution was to charge the buyer for postage a second time, as he had given me his old address. Luckily he agreed it was his fault and paid. I hope you have the same luck.
