Ebay question

A buyer is returning an item purchased from me.

I said I will happily refund her if she sends the item back to me.

She is now saying that I will have to cover her postage costs to send the item back to me otherwise she will open a Paypal dispute.

How will Paypal view this?

Why is she returning it, and also did you advertise anything in the listing about your returns policy?
#2
paypal only pay back the cost of the item sio as long as you tell paypal yourside of he story you should be ok
#3
let her take 1 out, she has pretty much no grounds, you have said that you will return the item, so i wouldnt worry
#4
Ishe returning it because its faulty/incorrect description or because she no longer wants it?
#5
paypal will only refund the money that she has paid you for the item and postage.they will not refund the postage costs to send it back to you:thumbsup:

She's an Italian buyer returning a game because it didn't have Italian language.
#7
Paypal will tell you to pay the total item cost inc postage but not return postage had this problem with a seller that would not pay back my return postage. Most good sellers will pay the return postage fee but its up to you,
#8
if she knew that before buying then i would tell her where to go. Why should you have to pay for her stupidity?

If you stated it had italian language though then I would feel kinda responsible and pay up.

i think rules changed recently i think you will be out of pocket for her return fees too

You don't have to pay for the return fees as everybody has said.

as long as your item was correctly described in your listing, she should have no grounds for a refund.
#12
its her fault for not checking out whether it had italian language on it before she bought it!
#13
You don't even need to refund her - It was as described.
#14
I expect she will neg you if you don't pay or refund the postage.

And it makes no difference if my listing didn't have any language description on it?

The game was PES 09 on the 360 by the way.

I think she will, but I will reply to her comment. ;-)

If it was her mistake then explain you are refunding her out of goodwill, but you aren't going to be out of pocket either way (ie don't refund the postage you spent sending it let alone return postage). If it was your mistake then you don't have to refund her return costs, but I would.

She's already opened a sealed game that I sent to her. Am already gonna lose out because I will have to resell as used.

If you've not stated languages incorrectly etc. i wouldn't refund her if a sealed game is now not. If you took the same thing into a shop for a refund they wouldn't accept it back as it's not how they sold it to you and not your fault for her buying the wrong thing.

hi i sold a video game recently, 4 weeks later i had an email saying the game was cracked, a total mess, he wanted refund plus all postage plus return postage, i asked him to return it, he didnt so he opened a dispute and paypal said he had to return game at his own cost, however he didnt return it because there was nothing wrong with it so paypal closed dispute he had to keep game and i didnt have to pay him a penny, so tell your buyer to file a dispute they will end up paying costs not you hope this helps

just sold an item which i have sold a lot of-buyer complained had glue on it-and part didnt work-and if i dont sort it she will neg me! didnt even give me the chance to reply-her first contact-i told her to return it for a refund but she then told me she had cleaned most of the glue off so how much can i refund for the part not working...it cost £6.50!
buyers are just taking advantage of the neg feedback now to blackmail good sellers-i have 1084 positives and now await my neg-even tho i did the right thing!

nope i sure wouldnt refund on that one...i would tell her politely that if she purchased from a store she couldnt return cos its not in italian!

I assume she is communicating to you in English?

If so why does it matter if it has Italian language or not? It was obviously easy enough to read your listing.

Like the others I don't think she has a leg to stand on, she should have checked with you before purchasing if the game had Italian language.

If it was a used game I had sold then I probably would refund her the cost of the game and one postage amount (for fairness as you would then each be out of pocket on postage) if it was sealed and shes now opened it I would refuse the whole refund and let it go through paypal dispute.

Good luck

If you want help, I speak italian fluently. I'll happily translate a few 'choice' sentances for you so she can completely understand :-D
