Ebay resolution centre

Just wondering whether anyone has opened a case in Ebay's resolution centre and their experience? If seller has not responded within 10 days have you been refunded?

I have just opened a case after ordering a textbook and never receiving it. Failed to get a response from seller via email and phone.

I've read that there is an option of going through ebay and paypal's resolution centre. Is it one or the other and not both. If so, which is better?

Can answer that at midnight, as almost 10 days with no response, doubt i will get a penny from the thief, as they can only get what is in their paypal account

hi there i found that paypal resolution is better than ebays, ebay just seem to contact them, paypal contact them and if no reply they will refund the full amount inclduing postage

it did take about 3 weeks for a refund though

Ebay basically do nothing at all to allow seller to respond for 10 days. I think you can go straight to paypal and move the dispute on rather than waiting the 10 days. Its melting having to wait that long. Alhough if you do wait and seller does not respond ebay will give you a full refund.

Go through Ebay first. In 99% of the problems I've had I have reclaimed a full refund. Mainly from a buyer who hasn't paid but a couple of times from not receiving the item.

Go get them!

thanks for replies guys. so it is not possible to go through both ebay and paypal resolution centre :S
hope I haven't made a mistake going through ebay's centre as was hoping to get a full refund and didn't want the process being dragged out for ages.

good to see some people have managed to get their money back through ebay. I don't think the seller will respond-he never bothered responding to my email and when I called the number ebay gave me it went straight to voicemail!

Yes you can move dispute on in paypal straight away cause you can tick a box to say you tried to contact seller and got nothing back. Will just have to wait on paypal dealing with it then x

Wrong and Wrong, paypal will only do in full IF the seller has the money in their account, if they are sneaky enough to not bother replying at all before ths time, then it is likely they will have no money in their account

I have went through ebay resolution centre 3 times in the last 2 months or so and each time got a full refund. Wasn't aware they had to have money in their account but I know I definitely got full refund each time

Well i hope your right, but from reading the t & cs then it seems as if they need money in their paypal account.

I hope your correct though as i have a dispute where the 10 day wait is up tonight

this is really bad, judging from the seller this may be the case :-(
please post the outcome of the case if you can

I think because they work alongside paypal in the dispute process they work the way paypal does, ie even if the person does not have money in paypal account paypal still refund regardless and leave the sellers account in negative balance

Wrong and wrong, they were right. If an ebay item and you paid via the listing for a tangiable item, pp will refund in full including postage, under buyer protection, regardless of funds.

What you are refering to is buyer complaint, off ebay, which is on an available funds basis.

Op open a pp INR. Item not received.

thanks, unfortunately I have already opened an ebay case which I'm starting to regret seeing as people are saying pp are better, and I don't think you can open both. So will just have to wait and see what happens.

If seller cannot prove delivery, you will get a refund its that simple.

Buyer protection still applies.

Funny that:

reading the user agreement and t & cs:

What if PayPal makes a final decision in my favour?

If PayPal makes a final decision in your favour, we will collect any available funds in the seller’s PayPal balance at that time. However, recovery is not guaranteed and may be limited only to the amounts that PayPal can recover from the seller’s Account. Any amounts collected from the seller will be placed in your Account

Buyer complaint is for both on and off of ebay, so don't know what your talking about.

b."PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy (for all other items purchased using PayPal on or off eBay)."

Still says awaiting other parties response, even though the deadline for the seller was yesterday :(

I do hate ebay and paypal sometimes

update mate: appears i was wrong ( my apologies) it does appear that you get a full refund if they can't prove its been posted/not reply from them, as i today got a full refund

the ebay resolution centre is different than the paypal one.

Ebay cannot take payment from you without authorisation (you need a CC on file).
ebay can issue you with punishments like suspensions etc

Paypal can take the money when they want as it's linked to your bank account (and when you sign up, you give them permission to take money from your account when you lose a dispute or your account goes into the red).
Paypal cannot issue punishments for not paying your buyer.

Indeed via ebay or pp, if it's an ebay item you will always get a full refund if seller cannot prove delivery.

Think it was me more worrying about not getting my money, that made me read the protection etc.

Im just happy to get my money back :) if it is somewhat belated.

My faith in paypal and ebay is somewhat restored

Since, I doubt the seller will reply, I'm hoping for the same. A long time to wait though :(

I went through Ebay, so hopefully the seller will receive a suspension or some other punishment.

update: seller refunded me yesterday, so case now closed. Did not bother to provide a reason why item was never delivered, but offered to re-sell it to me! Anyway I left some feedback which may be useful for prospective buyers :)
