I reply to these kind of scams every day on ebays P&P board.
It is a common scam. If this scammer should happen to pay you by Paypal you MUST refund it straight away using the 'refund' link on the transaction page.
If you receive an email from 'paypal' telling you that you have been paid and you need to post the phone then provide a tracking number to release the funds, this is a scam. Paypal never say this.
Have a read of this thread and it will explain all about these scams and how they work:-
http://forums.ebay.co.uk/thread.jspa?threadID=1200015405&tstart=0&mod=1156714197922
If you want to PM me the item number I'll confirm that it is a scammer and show you what else he is trying to scam from other sellers.

Hi, He's typical scammer. Here are the other items he has been bidding on:-
http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidItems&userid=yafaiphi&completed=1&all=1&rows=25&sort=3

He got you phone number by using this link:-
http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQtZvbQQsofindtypeZ9
Anybody can get your address and phone number if they are trading with you. If he applied for your details he will get a copy and you SHOULD/WILL get a copy of his.

Your buyers/scammers address and phone number will be false and you NEED to report them:-
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/identity-false.html

Right, let's sort out your fees:-
You need to report the item as unpaid so you your Final Fee Credit back:-
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/tp/unpaid-item-process.html
Then you will be able to re-list your item, but if you follow these rules it will/should not cost you extra.
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/insertion-fee-credit.html

As for him contacting you again, I would not let that bother you. I have reported his false details with 5 of my selling ID's, his days on ebay are numbered.
These scammers don't waste time calling people, they want to make lots of money fast. Are you sure it was the scammer that called you?

I think this about covers it. If I can help any further please let me know.

5 words for you.

Tell them to **** off.

I hope you all excuse my language, I did **** the word out.My brother has had this kind of crap and you have to end up selling it as a second chance offer.

15 negs in 30 days and fleabay is still letting him do this?
Typical greedy scum all they care about are revenues .
But when you are as big as they are who cares........

Well packer, a guy I was watching had a lot of negatives for not sending stuff out, but a lot of positives too. I don't think he was a scammer, just lazy. Anyway - he sold about 40 items about £20 each and then didn't send them. He got about 10 negatives in a day then disappeared off eBay. I hope the users get their money back.

Hi There,
saw your very handy link at the beginning of your post.
I tried to cut it down to check on another bidder but no dice.
Could you direct me to the page on ebay where you found it please.
#9
To be honest it looks like a hijacked account.
#10
This is a link to one of my selling ID's 'me' page:-
http://members.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=dinosteveus
You will find a bit about me, a long list of couriers and then a lot of 'helpful' ebay links.
#11
That is the most helpful page I have ever seen on eBay.

That ID has been on ebay for about 4 years but my main ID has been selling for just over 6. I just keep adding to it as I find new links etc. I use that 'me' page for helping on ebays P&P board but I use a 'posting' ID on there.

You would not believe the amount of scams people try and I'm sorry to say, but a lot of 'newbies' fall for them and lose a lot of money.

It's on my other selling and posting ID's as well.
#17
Thanks for all the helpful replies.I have reported to ebay now.Like you say i cannot beleive he has not been banned.I thought about second chance offer but after checking bidder who came second he is also a scammer all most definitaly working together.
#18
pennyhillstead looks like the next non scamming highest bidder. They are still 'looking' for a V3X judging by their bidding. I know it's only £70 odd but that is a good price for a V3X in my opinion. You could try and sell it on here, I might even make you an offer.
Anyway, take a copy of the imei number so if for any reason something goes wrong you can 'block' the phone.
#19
have also received a email from paypal@ service - subject **PAYMENT CODE CONFIRMED (Routing Code: C... inside it says i have new funds in my paypal account and i have been paid for the phone but will not be credited to your account until the shipment reference/tracking
number is sent to us for shipment verification so as to secure both the buyer and the seller.Seems very organised and no doubt some people have fallen for this.
#20
I knew this would happen. As I said earlier it's part of the scam.
Read this:-
http://forums.ebay.co.uk/ann.jspa?annID=200000012
It is from Kim and she works for Paypal.

I noticed you have already sold a V3X on the 19th.
#21
yes mate the last one was mine this ones the girlfriends, she not too happy.Do you think its ok to relist this before ebay sorts it out or should i wait
#22
If you re-list it now you will NOT get your listing fees back only your FVF (eventualy).
Why don't you advertise it on here while you are waiting for ebay to pull their finger out? It will not cost you anything.
How much are you after for it?
Have you kept a copy of the IMEI number?
#23
I have reported to ebay.should i also report as unpaid now or wait for ebays response, does this normally take a while? not sure if the girlfriend wants to relist or not yet but if anyone wants to make an offer ill show her when she gets home
#24
I don't think you can report an UPI just yet. He should be given the boot as soon as ebay wake up, then you can and you will/should get your FVF back. Your FVF should be credited back to your account but this can take up to a week.
#25
Yeah, do eBay work bank holidays??
#26

Yeah, do eBay work bank holidays??

Yes, they are meant to.
I have reported this scammer loads of times and nothing has happened, they don't normally take this long.
It IS a hijacked account.
#27
Hijacking accounts with large numbers of feedbacks. :( I feel sorry for those who lose all their hard work building up their eBay reputation.

I've had an account hijacked. Ebay will remove all the negs and freeze the account until the original owner contacts them.
#29
Ah, right. :)
#30
the account has now been suspended temporally ebay said the person had no knowledge of what was happening so it was hijacked like you said.Got my listing fee back but not fvf no mension of that. Will i have to claim that seperate do you think
#31
How does someone hijack your account, I just got past the 10(out of 10) positive feedbacks, it meant alot to me as I am no big ebay seller/buyer.

If you re-list it using the link I provided if/when it sells you should not be charged.
You need to 'check out' each bidder as they bid.
Have a look at what else they are bidding on. DO NOT be afraid to cancel bids and block bidders.
Mobiles, Ipods and Laptops are a scammers paradise.

Scammers/Hijackers use Password generator software to log into your account. The norm is to pick on an ebay account that looks dormant but has some good feedback.
Never click on an Ebay or Paypal email link, no matter what it says.

All you can do is keep an eye on your ebay account and you should be OK.

Well... if eBay ever send an email saying your account has been "suspended" or any email which prompts you to enter your eBay login information is a scam. You need to report these to eBay by forwarding them to [email protected]">[email protected]

Don't give them your details. The details will be entered into a site that looks like eBay but when you enter them they're emailed to the scammers who change the password and use your built-up positive feedback to get buyers to trust them and sell expensive items then flit with the cash.

The same happens with PayPal.

If you ever need to login to ebay, then quit the browser window/tab and go to www.ebay.co.uk and login from there instead of on the page you were on.

Make sure the page you are logging into always has an address beginning https://signin.ebay.co.uk/

Also, if you install the eBay toolbar it will turn green when it is safe to enter your eBay login details. http://toolbar.ebay.com

Didn't know of that method. So it just tried loads of automated logins?? Maybe they should get image code verification on login... :?

I'll keep an eye out.Thanks.

One of my Bank Accounts does that.

The Ebay Toolbar is full of Spyware. I would never use it again.
ALL genuine ebay messages WILL be sent to your ebay messages as well, so to check the authenticity of an email check your ebay account using a secure log in.
With Paypal all the info emailed to you will also be in your Paypal account.
#38
I didn't know it had spyware in it. :(

Download it for 24 hours and then run Ad-Aware or Spybot and wach the counter rise. :(

You'll be surprised what has spyware on it, but spyware as such is a broad term, some bad others not so bad, others nothing much, hope ebays is nothing much, even things like limewire who say it is spyware free isn't when you run a scan.

There is a post waiting to be checked, that has a good anti-spyware bargain on it, if you worried you pc may be infected run a free spyscan here.

http://www.webroot.com/

click on start spyscan now., it's free.If you want something more permanent there are plenty of posts(I hope) in the free software forum/thread.
