I recently sold an item on eBay, was paid instantly with paypal, so i booked p2g straight away, an hour or so later the buyer emails to ask whether i can have it sent to an alternative address as he and his wife are not about.

I told him as soon as i received payment i booked the courier.

DHL arrived yesterday and collected the parcel to deliver to the address on his paypal (not the alternative) i just checked the tracking and it says 'Left As Authorised' no signature or anything.

If he claims he never got it, can it be tracked to where it was left etc ?

Who authorised them to leave it?

If it goes astray (or is claimed to have) then you should be able to claim against P2G as you paid for a signed on receipt service which has not been supplied on their behalf.

Who authorised them to leave it?

That's what i was gonna ask!

Haven't a clue who authorised it ? Just spoke to live chat at p2g and they said there may have been a note left on the door to leave round the back or something.

You need to find out what happened, if you paid for a "signed for" delivery then p2g should have doen this, regardless of what any note said. But, p2g could also argue that it's the buyer's fault as they left instructions. Maybe e-mail the buyer and ask if he did leave a note...

Edit: p2g would probably argue, but it doesn't mean that they're right...

Make sure you write on the parcel, Signature Required! No Safe Place!

So in effect you are going to get taken for a ride. Alarm bells should start to ring as soon as he asked for it to be posted elsewhere.

As stated above get onto parcels2go asap, and keep perusing them. As they don't have a leg to stand on if they have not got a signature.

I would also keep emails from the buyer safe as well, especially those asking to send to a different address than the one provided by paypal.

Did the buyer have good feedback, and was his original address confirmed by paypal.

Good feedback, he wanted it posting to a military base, so i presume he's in the military, i've kept all emails, been onto p2g who said they are going to chase the carrier and email me the relevant info (see if they do)

I'm hoping the buyer left a note on his door before he went to work this morning for instructions for the delivery, has good feedback anyway so cant see it being a scam.

Will let you all know.

I hope i dont have to claim as i tried once before when they damaged an item i sent, luckily the buyer was understanding and i just bunged him a tenner

People are so quick to scream scam on here.

Not everyone is au fait with Paypal, they don't realise they can add a different address on there etc.

I've left notes on the door in the past but the delivery people still don't leave it with the neighbours if i'm out grrrr

I agree. The seller may be genuine, only time will tell. Youve sent it now and p2g have left it at the door. When the same thing has happened to me in the past, i usually send the buyer a message along the lines of will leave feedback when delivery has been confirmed. Usually they then reply telling me theyve got it. Even though theres a lot of scammers, theres just as many honest and reliable buyers.

Just be patient.

Shame i didn't use that line "will leave feedback when delivery has been confirmed" as soon as he paid i left feedback i usually do.

No word from the buyer yet or no feedback, i dont want to send him a message asking if he received it incase he thinks i'm worried then he may get the idea to scam me

Still no news:?

Just emailed the buyer to say i trust the parcel arrived as described, wait for his reply.

I have just been onto live chat @ p2g, have to laugh at them, this is basically how it went :

Me - I sent a parcel via DHL and it was 'Left As Authorised' can you chase the driver to find out exactly who gave him authorisation to leave a parcel without a signature.

P2G - There may have been a note on the door stating leave behind green bin etc

Me - Yes i understand that, but as i paid for the service, i never authorised the parcel to be left just anywhere, can you chase the driver to find out what exactly a note if any said

P2G - The driver wouldn't have made a note of what the note said

Me - I understand that, but least he will remember what was stated for him to do with parcel

P2G - I doubt the driver will remember he delivers to over 100 houses per day

Me - Well i need to know for sure what the authorisation was before i take legal action, for all i know the driver may have stolen my parcel

P2G - I will chase the driver but i dont think he will remember what the note said

Me - Well if you can chase him and find out before i report it to the police i will be greatful

P2G - I will try to find out and get back to you

Me - I look forward to hearing from you

Have to laugh with the &^%$ they come out with

Just thought i would update you all, received a reply to my email and he's received the parcel and is happy.

Looks like i owe P2G an apology after my rant at them this morning
