If I had proof that a HUKD member was Shill Bidding on ebay, would he get banned from HUKD? This shill bidder just 'won' his own mobile :giggle: :giggle:
I am in the process of reporting him again to ebay.

It's somebody with more than one ebay account that uses the 'other' account to bump up the bidding of the widget. In this case he had three ebay accounts until one got booted off ebay for shill bidding. Tonight he used one account to bump the Mobile up but it back fired and he 'won' it.

The thing is, two of his account names are the same, but one ends in 123 and the other ends in 321. Doh.

I don't think it's the business of the admin/mod team or of members to tell you the truth. Should we run credit checks also before letting people join the forum? or criminal background checks? or unpaid parking fines?

What people do elsewhere is their own business. If someone comes here to trade and is a known scammer from elsewhere then please pm a mod with the info. Otherwise let people live their lives in private.

Ummmm, Let's take things out of context :-(

You have made your point, Nuff said.

Lock this thread or remove it please.

I am not sure that him winning his own item would be a mistake, some people use shill bidding as a sort of reserve as well...so he might have not wanted to sell it for less than £x.xx so bidded it up to that himself.
#13
Also he could send out econd chance offers to the next highest bidder so really he is bumping the price up.

Name and shame.

its still against ebay rules, if you want to set a reserve there is that option to do so

Oh I know, not saying it's 'OK' was just pointing out that the shill bidding didn't necesarily 'back fire' - it was just as likely intentional.

Though the minimum reserve you can set is £50...

Shill Bidding is THEFT. NO ifs, ands or buts. Theft.

The £50 reserve has been £50 for nearly three years. The seller could have started the bidding at a higher price or set a reserve if they want the item to sell over a certain price.
In the case I started the OP about, this was just blatant theft. The winning bidder was the seller and the other bidder was a 'newbie' who would not have known he was being scammed.

If this 'person' tries to sell his Mobile on here again I will 'out' him in public then report him to the Moderators.

I totally agree. Shill bidding is wrong & I agree with 'Name & Shame' idea...

This is just ridiculous, no one is going to be "naming and shaming" anyone for what they are doing in the rest of their life when it has no relevance to the community here.

And yes I will apparently have to close this thread. I do not want this forum holding public witch hunts which involve people's lives. If anyone has information regarding a possible scammer in FS/FT then yes pm a mod with the info so they can look into it.

And yes I am grumpier before I have my tea.
