related to this post: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/200069/free-ebay-auction-sniper/

for their operation, these services requires you to give away your ebay username and password to them when sniping.

I'm a bit concern, wouldnt you?

advice and experience please

i wouldnt bother - broadband is so fast you can sneak in the last second - those only came in useful fi you had dial up

plus more likely to have your details stolen e.g name address phone number - any paypal account linked

What rubbish! The whole idea is that you dont have to sit at your pc awaiting the auction end time.

We dont all have time on our hands lol

IMHO, they are totally safe as they wouldnt be up and running for long if they weren't. The ones mentioned in the thread are years old.

personally i wouldnt give my details too anyone. its all about risk versus reward.

The risk of someone abusing your details is far greater then the reward of winning an item!

I have used http://www.justsnipe.com and never got any problem. I used to sit by the computer like dandoc2 to sneak in the last bid, and then I discovered these free sniping tools and never looked back again.

I use auctionsniper.. I find it very useful as I put what I want to pay and leave it.. It saves me get in a bidding battle with someone else and paying over the odds.. I'm probably like a lot of bidders. If I bid on something and get outbid I think it's personal and just can't leave it alone..

Isn't it harder to type with all words having a capital? it's certainly harder to read.:-D

People are sometimes WAYYYY too overprotected. Do your research, as you would if you buying from a site for the first time.

If it's a long established site, with lots of recommendations then it's going to fine. Use a sniper and enjoy the money it can save you. If it started up last week and no one has ever heard of it, avoid, cos then it's not worth the risk.

I once came across a woman on another forum who, on being questioned about her policy on capitalising the first letter of each word, explained that she "Thought The Words Would Fall Off The Screen" if she didn't.

Bless her. The tard.

but if you use it for the first time, youre never sure... one mistake in 10 years is enough if that particular mistake happens to fall onto us

for me, it struck me that these companies (or one of them that i studied) DOES NOT say anything about the need of giving away our ebay username, let alone putting the privacy policy on its usage etc.

I think on some sites you can use a token you can revoke later rather than your username and password. A quick google for ebay sniping token gives you Auctiontrax see: http://auctiontrax.com/help.html. There may be others...

I would take care using these things, you're giving away your password.

You don't tend to save much anyway, the auction will go to the person who was willing to pay the most regardless of when they bid. If you bid the same amount then the auction will go to the person who bid before you.

There is an argument that bidding early can increase the price of the item but then there's a counter argument that by not bidding the price remains low which attracts people towards the end looking for a bargain who wouldn't have bid if the price was higher.

Don't trust any of these sniping sites. I use one of them once, I won a biro for 23 pence! Took great satisfaction in pipping some poor fool to snatch the biro from under his nose. Trouble is he had the last laugh, the sniping tool stole my password and used it to bid on hundreds of items and post them to far away places like Lagos and Nairobi. I had all my credit cards cancelled after being used to fund terrorism. They applied for a loan against my house meaning I am currently being evicted, but that is ok because MI5 are after me as they cloned all of my personnel data and I'm now classed as being number 2 in Al Queda. And to make matters worse the biro arrived but the cap was missing!

Just kidding! Some people need to loosen up a bit!

I understand that people are weary of giving away their password but if you use a sniping service that is recommended by others then it shouldn't be a problem. There would be no way of sniping if a password wasn't given.

yeaah youre right... people are after all equally reasonable... (well at least theyre supposed to be)
if our bid amount is less than the previously placed bid then it doesnt matter when we bid or if we use this snipper services

what these sites offer is the convenience of not having to sit and wait in the dying minutes of the bidding. and i believe it comes with the price of rgiving away your password.

I wait until the last few minutes, but I'm not sure why. If you think about it the lower price will just encourage loads of people to bid in the last few minutes as they'll smell a bargain.

well one thing is sure: it will not give time for a newcomer bidder (whose max bid is higher) to outbid us
