I remember having this same problem. They gave me some instructions and they didn't work. I need to chase them up actually. Thanks for the reminder!

I've tried to change it back and it says, "You cannot change your account type from business to private"

gaanja thats exactly the problem i have its so stupid, why dont they want anyone to change it back? it doesnt make sense!!

What you can do (if it still works) is open a new private account then combine the 2 so the feedback from your business account transfers over. It means a change of user name of course as the old account is closed and locked......

lmao

since when could you change a business account to a personal account in any situation.....

Ebay are absolutely right. The principles of consumer protection require that the customer is absolutely aware of who he is dealing with. Someone who has traded with you as a business and then trades again after you changed your 'status' will not be aware that the law that protected him before doesn't now.

Try very hard to think of it from the other guy's point of view. Full marks for eBay's common sense.

Well apparently if the account was originally opened as a business account it CAN be changed to private. Only 1 change per account, so it's got sod all to do with 'protecting consumers'.

Then I take back my praise of eBay. They are stupid, for exactly the opposite reason that brettytopbanana thought they were.

well it was originally a private account which i changed to a business account but i now want to change it back!

I wouldnt be so bothered except when i was selling something on here recently i was accused of being a trader because i had to prove myself through an ebay account.

its not really a massive problem only chaging it really so i dont get hassle!

the best thing about this is that I have spoken to three advisors and none of them have mentioned to me that you cannot revert back to a private account from a business account! LOL!
