"We'd like to let you know about some new steps we're taking to help prevent fraudulent unauthorised activity on eBay accounts.

Later this summer, we'll begin checking the computer you use to list an item to see whether it's one of the computers you regularly use. If you list an item using a different computer (e.g. at a friend's house, in a hotel, at the library), we'll ask you to confirm that it's really you listing the item."

sigh.

If they wanna improve it, they should just bring the feedback system back, that would be much better

Might as well give eBay every bit of personal information now as it will wrangle it out of you by hook or by crook.!

I agree its an invasion of privacy but it must be cos as usual the few ruin it for the masses. People musta claimed they never listed an item when it went pete tong ie was at my mams the weekend maybe my brother did it as wasnt me

Who do Ebay think they are, they are getting far too big for their own good!! So if i want to put a bid in now and i'm at my friends or at work i've got to send them all my details everytime i want to do this...... No Way!!

I used to use Ebay all the time to get some bargains but now it's just shops, companies etc And the charges they now charge is scandalous plus they almost force you to use Paypal (which they own) so they can charge you even more!

Just wish they had some decent competition and everyone would start using the other auction sites so they'd start looking after their users better.

Anyway thats my moan for the day, ..........it's nearly the weekend thank goodness :)

Sometimes I re-list things at my partner's parents, at my mom's and at my dad's house. My dad lives in devon, but the other 2 are just around the corner, what are they going to do then???!!

Make you prove who you are, then if you ever do any computer crime in the future they'll know all the other computers you have used and they'll be taken away to be investigated as well :w00t:

Might just end up going through a proxy server and mask my IP with a different IP each time I log onto eBay just to p**s em off :)

It's only if you are listing, not bidding.

Wonder if they are using this as a ploy to stop shill bidding on the same PC.

That's even more stupid then. Surely this should be for buyers even more than sellers - To stop someone using your account details to buy things :?

Logging IP addresses, now who would do that?

REMEMBER - EBAY IS GOOGLE .... :x

This is just for selling items not bidding, read before moaning :p and i also imagine it will be as simple as answering a security question before listing an item from an unknown machine, no big deal surely?
