i wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole, you're correct that everyone has to start somewhere but it's a fairly large purchase from a new seller so i personally wouldn't be risking it.... check out what you're actually covered for with PP, you might be surprised ...

mmm well yes you got a point, everyone has to start somewhere. i would ask for pictures of it first (the one he used is a genral stock photo from google), so ask to see it working, plus i dont think i would pay until i recieved the item, just to aviod all the hassel of getting your money back if it all goes **** up

i would avoid it myself, kinda weird they joined in 2007 yet never bought or sold anything. send them a message asking them to put some pictures up and if it's possible to collect

That's a hard one. It says they've been listed as a member since December 07 =/ it's weird they've registered and haven't sold or bought anything for almost 3 years. Maybe they've been waiting for a big enough item to come along to utilise ebay but my gut instinct says you probably shouldn't, sorry matey :(

Edit: shouldn't have taken so long to write that^ :D

Surely Paypal would cover you if you didn't recieve it. If they didn't and you used a card you could charge it back (providing it is with a card that allows it).

If in doubt, go without

i messaged him but i prob gonna leave it its a present so i aint got time to mess on with paypal lol

Don't do it
The persons account has probably been hacked
You'll end up with nothing and have to claim via paypal
Seen quite a few scammers try this kind of trick

Can i just ask a question,
i wasnt sure where to put it. I purchased an item today, the seller was selling around six copies of this same boxset. Around four went for around the same price however as i was about to pay, i recieved an email about the seller wants to cancel the transaction. I have not had this before, the seller gave no reason, the only reason i can see is that he perhaps wanted more money but if that was the case he should have put a reserve. I thought it was contract that he had to sell the items he had for sold?. What should i do?

I didnt think you could do a chargeback against paypal as they are not the provider of the goods.

I bought something expensive a few years back and lost my money cos paypal said they could not recover the funds from the sellers account. Probably changed now as they change their rules all the time.
