EBAY - Your experiences?

Just wondering if you have had any weird/annoying experiences on Ebay, what happened, what did you do and what was the outcome?

For instance.....

Currently (as some of you already know) I have an unpaid item dispute with a buyer.... I have 100% but I mainly buy of it and only sell rarely.....

The buyer bough Condemnded 2 from me (Nuts deal!) on Buy it now...then I get an e-mail saying "I'm having problems with PayPal, I have to register a new card (old one expired) with them which needs to be verified. Can you wait a few days for payment?" I said yeah sure, I'll give you a week no probs....

So a week goes by and I hear nothing...I send another invoice as a reminder...then I send an e-mail a few days later saying is your card sorted?
Next day I get this back:
"The card is fine I'm just gonna used it here;
http://www.thehut.com/hut/9952042.product?affil=GENAFFIL
"

ANNOYED the hell out of me...I know I can get Neg feedback but I don't care its the principl of the matter....

So I put an item dispute in tonight and I get an e-mail saying "Payment Sent"....I check Paypal (The only option!!!)- Nothing!

So I send e-mail back saying 'now payments in Paypal! and updated the dispute....

Here's the rest:

Buyer has indicated that they will pay for this item. The item details are as follows:
Item: *NEW* - CONDEMNED 2 - XBOX 360 - Free Rec. delivery(#110255017099)
Buyer: karenmillar
Transaction date: 23-May-2008

No payment received to Paypal account (only option given) as of 08/06/2008 21:35 despite Buyers
indications saying otherwise

Never sent to PayPal account as seller agreed to take a personal cheque due to ongoing problems
verifying my PayPal account. This was sent on the 1st June and should have cleared by now if the
seller banked it straight away?

Blatant Lie...a personal cheque was never received OR agreed to. Paypal was the ONLY option of Payment. All E-mails to and from Seller by the buyer in question can be supplied to Ebay as well as ALL bank transactions to prove no cheques was banked. All e-mails will prove this was never the case and the only E-mail from buyer when delayed payment was due were to say 'I shall be buying it from The Hut website instead' (Can supply this e-mail!). No Payment received OR sent.

I forgot to stick a 10 feedback minimum on and realised after this person has -2 feedback!

Here's her feedback:

complete and utter waste of my time.everthing ignored.avoid !! Seller: d.t.scotland ( 10755) 27-Feb-03 11:05
-- (#3108899912)

Seems she's just a nutbag who does this for kicks....anyone had anything similar? What happened?

Dont think anyone is up for a rant at the time.

Ive not had any experiences as bad as yours but I don't sell & hardly ever buy these days because eBay does seem to be full of loose screws.
The problem is you are dealing with the great British public, some of whom are dishonest, unable to read listings or even follow basic instructions..

Ebay seems to have developed from a clever market-place initiative to a scammers/idiots paradise & with its current, ill-advised policies, it only has itself to blame for any future downfall in business.

yea, you've gotta watch yrself and list like you said with minus rules and paypal only, if a person has registered a new card on their paypal account it can take up to about 2 weeks to get paid (this is sloppy on the part of PayPal, but often they are a bit shady so you have to watch yrself!)

+ Now sellers can't leave buyers any feedback but positive, which i think is madness and has seriously put off many users

I have a fair bit of ebay experience the worst one lately was when i bought a poor quality DVD box set from Malaysia and sent it back to seller in good faith and with a promise to reimburse me, but I didn't recieve any funds or contact (no longer a registered user) I never recieved a penny when I claimed through PayPal as I bought the item through ebay US (i know!!?) and that doesn't feature protection for UK buyers something which is pretty criminal imho to think how much PayPal are making by the second!

ok rant over - I've had numerous other small problems but luckily I've actually saved quite a bit of money in the long run and sold lots of unwanted stuff too, it is just quite hard making money and PayPal take quite a cut and seem to be protecting dodgy buyers!

I have had continued problems with ebay and paypal. The final thing being Paypal decided I have received too much money recently ( a few hundred quid as I am having a clear out) and have frozen my account saying they want suppilers info etc.. To which I explained I do not have these as I am not a business- just selling my thing to which they have frozen my account WITH all my money in it for six months!!! I hate them. I sent them personal, scanned info of my passport etc... and they are still saying I must be dodgy ( I am not trying to money launder I can assure you!).

Just remember unitl the money is in your own bank account it is still under their control. Paypal can do this randomly to anyone. I have looked this practice up and there are thousands of people it has happened to.

They are basically a monopoly and I wish there was a more ethical, reasonable alternative to ebay which got buyers and sellers there.

All the problems I've had with eBay have been inside the last 2 years. All of my experiences inside the last 5 years are as a buyer, been with eBay since early days in the 90's in the US.

Problem 1: Buying a 7600GT from a US supplier to have delivered to the UK as a Christmas gift for my wife. Was ordered in mid-November and paid immediately through PayPal. No communication from the seller (with loads of positive feedback) so after waiting the required length of time I open a dispute. The day before the dispute is supposed to auto-resolve in my favor they give thier first communication in this dispute stating that the card had been shipped that day overnight. I did recieve the card, but I couldn't leave neg feedback and the dispute was "satisfactorily resolved" and closed. That really made me angry because I was pushing for a refund and I no longer wanted the card at this point in late January. Could I do anything about any of this? No, apparently not. The complaint was resolved and I couldn't leave feedback and I had the card regardless of how I felt or that they had my money for 2 months.

The second problem was buying a used DS Lite cartridge (Advance Wars 2) from a private seller. Again, paid immediately with PayPal, and waiting for the cartridge. Seller didn't pick up the payment after 2 weeks and since I wasn't hearing anything from the guy after sending messages I cancelled the payment. This brought him out of the vapors he was hiding in and I said I would still be willing to buy if he provided proof that he had shipped the cartridge. He agreed, and we spend another 2 weeks. More nothing, so I say let's forget about it. More flannel about having it to ship but problems with PayPal, so I say (as I stilll wanted the cart) that if he sends it to me I will pay him via bank transfer upon reciept of the cartridge and confirming it works. Just give me your details and send the cartridge. This was acceptable to him (supposedly) and so we wait more time. Nothing. So I gave up. I left negative feedback saying he was a timewaster and moved on.

i think most of the problems occur with electricals and entertainment-phones being the worst! i have sold stuff from my home and in the past all kinds of things with little incidence. On the occasions I have bought anything electrical I have had problems-and once sold a phone to Nigeria(didnt sendit!!)
I have said I wont buy again anything high value as I dont trust paypal to get my money back for me despite their assurances. I have used them twice for goods not received (once a pushchair seller made excuses about sending) and I had the refund within about 2 hours each time-but I have seen enough to know they are not good if you have a not as described (you return with postage at your cost!)
My feedback is 1051 100% positive but i can see with the new rules it will change! and i am sure i will leave an odd neutral or neg as i would have loved to in the past but feared retaliation(your feedback is important when you sell frequently)
Yep i am disheartened at times and ODB thats a disgrace what she did. I will still use cos i have made money but i would like to try another auction site.

I've had enough of Ebay ................... :x :x :x

I have sold on ebay infrequently, and recently listed quite a few items, having never had any non paying bidders over past years, I have had 3 in the last 2 weeks..... could this have anything to do with sellers not being able to leave negative or neutral feedback? I feel VERY frustrated that Ebay seem to be absolutely biased towards the buyer who can behave anyway they like and the sellers hands are tied. I am having a serious rethink, also the 'credit crunch' seems to be biting hard and things are either not selling or going for first bids, 99p, seems barely worth the effort by the time paypal and Ebay have had their fees- I shall be taking more to the chairty shops where I feel the goods could actually make a difference to/for someone.

got to agree with you on that.

non paying customers are nothing new. I have heard many types of excuses being a seller before.

COMPLETELY AGREE!!!!!!!!!

i've sold + bought over 180 things on Ebay. Never had a problem until this ****** new rule about buyers can leave pos or neg feedback and the seller can ONLY leave positive.

how DAMN pathetic. I've sold some high price items, offered a second chance to people and even they haven't come back to me.

once more and i'm through, it's happened 5 times in a week.
