I had similar situation recently although not with a car part. I lost the postage and they cheeky git wanted me to pay return postage for them to return it to me too Grrrrrrrrrrr
#2
Tell them you will deducting the £12 from the refund. Being a car part it should be up to the buyer to know what part they are ordering before they buy it
#4
Uhm, unless you specified a return policy, they have no right for the money, and if he's now sent it back, he'll should have to pay again to have it sent back to him.

He entered an agreement to buy it - doesn't matter that it was wrong.

If i were you, i'd probably be nice and tell him you'll refund the money minus ebay fees and shipping.

Email & tell him you can only accept the item back if he pays the postage! it was HIS fault why should you be out of pocket!! ?
#6
If he hasnt sent it back recorded tell him you never recieved it back. Stuff him!

Comments like that really don't help

How did it cost you £12 to post ?. didnt you charge him postage ?.If he returns its up to him to pay return postage ,
#9
Without seeing your listing on the item its hard to say, but normally the buyer cannot return any item unless it is faulty.

Check your listing if you have put " no returns/refunds" then the buyer cannot return, its his fault he bought the wrong item.
#10
Refund but take £12 off too cover your postage and also take off how much it will cost for you too relist the item in ebay/paypal fees.

They admit that it was their fault for buying the wrong item so you should not be out of pocket. They should have checked with you before posting it back anyway:whistling:.If they start a dispute they have already admitted it was their mistake.

Was it a buy it now listing and are you listed as a business seller?

If not ,refund the buyer minus the postage, but if you're a private seller you don't have to accept it back at all,you could always refuse to accept delivery and it will get returned to the buyer as long as they have provided a return address on the parcel.

I trust you sent it to the buyer originally by a trackable method,

You have already provided your service, your work is done.
It was the buyers fault so the buyer will have to pay any extra postage costs.
If he doesn't then tell him where to go.

you dont have to refund

Remember though, whatever it is that you do, if you do annoy him, he has the ability to leave a negative whereas you don't. Unfair, I know, but thats something to bear in mind.

This maybe correct but if you feel the feedback left is unfair you can ask ebay to remove it and if they think you are correct they will.

Or you can leave a comment under there feedback thus leaving your own comment

Just say you can have a refund minus the costs as its not your liability to check if the buyer has the right item its his fault for not reading the listing correctly and also make sure he returns the item in sum sort of way which you can track it.
#17
Wait for the item to arrive and check it thoroughly then deduct the cost of your postage from any refund.

I don't use Ebay any more as it's full of a-holes trying to scam you out of the item and money using Paypals bizzarro refund policy and any attempt to talk to Ebay customer service will destroy your hope for the future of humankind.

Tell him to swivel.

Not your fault he's changed his mind. Damned cheek if you ask me to say he'd returned it without even communicating with you first.

I assume you have been contacted by him to say that is the reason (and not that its faulty).

Best log a complaint with ebay to spell out its not your problem and that you refuse to be out of pocket for his mistakes and will be advertising elsewhere should they rule against you and spell out also you are concerned he may have broken it and now trying to scam you.

In my experience, you should only refund the money paid for the item but no postage as it was their mistake,

Hi,

Interesting. I can't see the purchase you relate to. Do you care to elaborate.

Whilst I have your attention - You clearly are business like (tout) for the ID you've previously supplied. No more "friends can't use ticket" excuses. Nor shall you trade in fs/ft unless you receive prior permission and to the exclusion of any ticket based sales.

ASB probably had 2 mins to spare and looked at his first fs/t thread that gave his ebay id, then looked up his selling history via goofbay or similar, which quite clearly shows he is a ticket tout/seller of sorts and looking at his fs/t here he seems to have been trading on the cheap:thumbsup:

No reference to the car part on his trading id tho, ASB was trying to help:-D
