Just sold an item on ebay, in bold after the desription i put "cash on collection only please" straight after the auction had finished the buyer paid into my paypal.

Now i'm not happy they took over £4 just for the priviledge.

refund it?? and tell em you want cash! but you could have taken paypal off your listing payment options?
#2
Why did you have it as a payment option if you don't accept it?
#3
just refund it and send them an email telling them what is going on!

Paypal has to be listed as an option these days by ebay rules.

Yeah another stupid rule from ebay.

Just emailed him asking if he can pay cash on collection awaiting a reply

Paypal has to be listed as an option in a large number of catagories - with Ebay looking to change this to all AND threaten action against people who have to include it in their listings but 'encouraging' buyer to pay via other means....

A possible way round this that I have used is to put a 'high' postage & packing cost on to 'discourage' any othee method of payment other than paying me in used notes when they collect.

I'm not threatening anyone then & paypal is still available if they wish to pay handsomely for the privilege.

I had a few listings removed once because I put that cash on collection was preferred

I do most of my listings cash on collection and put my mob number in the listing and usually it works out ok they call and ask

you just got unlucky

lol that would be unfair most people use paypal for their own protection they don't think about how the people on the other end are going to lose out on a few quid

Haven't heard from him yet, he hasn't even said when he's collecting

This is what is also worrying, a week later he could try and claim his cash back via paypal and they'll give him it

i think you will find that excessive p+p costs is also against the rules and if a complaint is received can get you lising removed.

was it me? lol

im on the other side: i want cash on collection cos of hi PnP, but havent heard anything form seller! (almost one day now)

anyway, can we do that? i mean how ebay know that a buyer has paid if s/he pay cash?

Paypal will not protect you as a seller unless you can provide proof of delivery. A written contract saying "I picked this up" etc will not suffice. Whenever I ask a buyer to pay cash because of this, they always agree.
Tell them that you have been scammed before by a customer paying paypal, collecting, and then claiming from paypal..and that you dont want to be stung again (tho emphasise that you dont believe they are a scammer..just safe rather than sorry)

I had a guy buy a denon tuner from me on ebay, wanted to collect in person but still paid postage costs paid via paypal about 5 months ago, then never made any contact and didnt answer mine, finally about two weeks ago he sends me a message saying just sell it again and dont worry about the money!
Thing is postage was set at £6.50 but he was going to travel 90 miles each way!
Never mind £30 for nothing!

I hope it's not anything expensive...because if they paid by Paypal and collect from your house they can get their money back by claiming they never received the item! It's up to you then to give Paypal a tracking number, which you can't obviously do. Paypal will then take back the money out of your account. Paypal/Ebay suck!

Didn't see your post there, Smashed. But you put it better than I have. Basically...don't let them collect if they insist on paying by Paypal.

Paypal is there for the buyers protection so them paying via paypal protects them just in case it all goes balls up don't see any wrong with them wanting to pay through paypal. But what i don't understand is that i love cash on pick up as if its close to me i don't pay any postage fees and i can see the goods before i give them the cash if its broke or scratched/marked or not as described i can just tell them to stick it.

Ebay have made themselves a scammers paradise, look at this thread the guy/gal involved has been doing this long term with the looks of it and is still allowed to use ebay.
