I recently purchased a heater with ebuyer but find it dead on arrival, it doesn't work. I'd like to return it, but the problem is that ebuyer returns policy requires the original packaging (which in this case is just a white box with styrofoams), which we discarded and there's little chance of getting it back.

Can I still return it with other makeshift packaging? Will they accept that return?

Thanks guys.

If its faulty they shouldn't require original packaging, as long as there is proof of purchase.

Items Faulty on Arrival

If your items are faulty on arrival, you have 28 calendar days in which to inform us of the fault (please note that for our business customers, this is 14 calendar days). Items should be returned in their original packaging complete with all accessories and documentation. Once we have verified the fault, we'll issue a replacement or full refund to you via your original payment method and reimburse your reasonable return carriage costs. We test returned items, and if a returned item is found not to be faulty by our technicians we will return the item to you, in this instance you will be liable for the return carriage.

Won't they hold on to this?

Do you want a replacement rather than a refund? - Easiest way would be to wait out the 28 days and claim under 12m warranty

Give them a call, if it stopped working a couple of days after you got it for instance, you may well not have the packing, and they still have to reimburse or replace the product for you.

The packing is purely part of their wording, which to my knowledge, is completely unnecessary.

It may be however due to the shipment of the product...

If it's dead on arrival, what kind of excuse can I give them on the missing ori packaging?
