Ebuyer... RMA...... and missed collections.....????

I bought a 500GB 2.5" Hard drive for my sister and had it delivered to her house in the Cotswolds. It was DOA, so I had to do the necessary to get a collection arranged and was set to be collected yesterday.

If you've ever used ebuyer and had to return, you will note that they charge you for non collection should you not be in when they arrive.

Yesterday arrived and went... and no sign of the courier to collect.

Biggest problem is staying in all day! My sister has already said its going to be yonks before she has another day she has nothing going on.

Does ebuyer (a) compensate in the same way they charge for courier problems? (b) Do they send out a postage paid label instead?

Obviously ebuyer are liable to postal charges here.... but just wondering if anyone has had similar problems and what happened? (Please don't reply by telling me you've had no problems.... it's totally irrelivant to the question being asked.)

I doubt they will compensate you - providing its listed in your account etc, I would assume its Shittylinks problem.

I've sent a few things back and they've always collected. ebuyer used to have quite a bad rep (wrongly in my opinion), but of late most people seem to love them.

i have been using them for 3 years now and never had a problem ast year i had 4 faulty e8400 processors and they collected and replaced and np extra charge, brilliant support

Yeh, I tend to agree. Ebuyer did have a bad rep, though apart from a dodgy camera they'd sent me many moons ago, have been pretty good.

I have spoken to them this morning and theyve got onto the courier (UPS). I mentioned I wanted the charge reversed, but they said something ending on off (but more politely.)

UPS have phone to try to give an alternative date. They said they had a different driver on the round yesterday. I've asked if that was meant to be a reason for not collecting or notifying someone had to wait in all day because of their stupidy. Theyve said they will investigate and let me know. I did suggest they owed me... but they said "take it up with ebuyer". Don't ya love it when 2 companies mess up and blame the other!

Odd that they've changed or added to their couriers. There is a Citylink base literally inside the eBuyer warehouse in Howden.

Never had to return anything, but been using ebuyer for about5-6 years now and never had a problem, always been great.

Yeh, my stuff has generally also been citylink too. This return was deffo UPS (@ Glossup)

Strangely, I've RMA'd stuff to them without problems either. I know the OP didnt ask for that info, but I thought I'd appear as stupid as the others too!

When I had to return an hard drive, I stated I wouldnt be able to be in for a collection and asked for an alternative, they allowed me to return it via RM and to send the scan of the receipt to get reimbursed

They haven't given the option, but to be honest I was more interested to hear if anyone has had a missed collection and what they'd done!

I've never had to return anything from them, so I have never had a problem with them.

Ring up ebuyer and some bright young thing will apologise and get on the phone to UPS to re-arrange collection. Some unreservedly apologectic woman from UPS will ring up and promise next day collection. The courier won't turn up off course. Then you wait a week for another slot... ;)

That's what im talking about!

Haha... the muppets turned up yesterday (a day late) even though they were told no one would be in and they'd said they would telephone to arrange an alternative date. I did get a voice mail message at the end of the day from UPS Gloucester (Not Glossup as mentioned earlier) saying "It was our fault no one came on the arranged date" and promising to call back today.

Elbows and asses spring to mind!
