Would you able to cancel your contract as it'll be out of bundle which you agreed upon?
The cost of UK out of bundle voice calls will be increased from 40p to 50p per minute from September 28 for all customers, while UK multimedia messages will also go up by the same for all pay monthly customers.

Access charges for premium numbers will increase from 44p to 50p, while international texts across zones 1-5 will go up from 25p to 35p.

The most significant increase will be for customers in international zones three and four, which includes countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. These currently cost £1 but will rise to £1.60.

Confirming the price rises, an EE spokesperson said: “We’re contacting our pay monthly mobile customers to inform them of some changes we are making to the cost of calls and MMS outside of their allowances from September 28.

I had the misfortune to go over my allowance at christmas and ended up with a bill for £65 extra. My monthly bill is only £4.99 so a bit of a shock. Didn't realise i had gone over the minutes until i got the bill. Ee should allow a warning alert to be placed but that will reduce their revenue.

I assume you now have an app that warns you when close to your limits?

e.g.

Never heard of it. How does it work? Do you have to open the app to get a warning or will it send you an alert automatically?

They're owned by BT, it's literally no cost to them...I'm sure they'll have a ton of people who "forget" to cancel and will make some money that way in 6 months time.

It sends you an alert - I use my data sometimes for Tethering and it let's me know when I'm getting near to my limit - you can set your alerts according to what you want :)

So as of the 28th of Sept I will be able to cancel my contact without any charge to me ?

They now have service on plans letting you know when get to end of bundles. And having a family member work for them prices remain same of customers on existing plans. So nothing changes you won't be able to cancel
#12
Where has this information come from? As I have just called them and they have no clue

Worth downloading the EE app plus
They are now notifying people via text if they are close to their limit. I received the following text on Friday :
Hi this is not an alert, it's just for your information. We would like to let you know what we're doing to help you avoid surprises on your EE bill. Your plan already comes with a data cap so you can't go over and we text you if you ever reach your data limit. What's more, we'll now also text you within 2 hours of you using up your minutes or any of your add-ons, so you can continue to stay in control of your bill.

The annoying thing was, i have several sims and there were loads of minutes on the other sims that i could have used to make calls if i had known i had ran out of minutes!

It seems they will only allow contract cancellations where the customer has a limit on their free minutes. Mine is 1000 mins, wonder if that counts as unlimited or not ? Leaving them in Feb either way.

The fact that there is numerical number of minutes means that yours is not unlimited.
#21
can you port your number if you cancel?

I'll stick to that reasoning when arguing with EE :)

no

Ok so if your contract (like mine) is unlimited mins/texts how does that roll?? I'm guessing I'm still stuck with them for 14 months.... urggggg
#28
But if they are also increasing the cost of picture messages as well that might be a route in? My contract has unlimited texts and minutes but I get charged for picture messages
#29
I get charged for picture messages pain when sending pics to grandparents they get confused with email but a text message is fine costs loads. Be amazing if I could cancel s7 edge 4 months in
#30
I don't understand, they've put up the price.
So I can now cancel my contract as I didn't agree to those prices???
#31
I have unlimited minutes and texts does that mean I'll have to pay a fee to leave?
#32
what else did you expect? as the rules come in that they must charge the same price across europe, they need to make their money back from somewhere!
#33
Roll on September 28th...worth a try.

Lol. You can't cancel your contract due to this... These charges are out of bundle costs and not a basic increase. Stick within your bundles and you won't be affected simple... Otherwise change your price plan!

I would have to agree with this as your contract are for the inclusive minutes, not how much you spend outside of your allowance.
#36
for people who have limited mins or use picture messages then you have a case for cancelling your contract, those who are on unlimited min, you wont have a leg to stand on in regards to cancelling unless u use picture messages a lot in which case you could argue that route

I thought you could cancel if you coudl show that it would have a detrimental effect on you. If you have never exceeded your limits then it is unlikely to have a detrimental effect so cancellation would not be possible. If you exceed your limits regularly (don't know what would count as regularly though) then this would be detrimental so you should be able to cancel. This is just my interpretation of previous changes that I've read about and I'm no lawyer!
#39
so what you guys are saying is there is no chance of cancelling the contract? :(
