Thanks for the link, I didnt know that you had to give up all those things during the day, I thought it was only food

Ramadan (Arabic: رمضان‎) (also written Ramazan, Ramzan, Ramadhan, Ramdan, Ramadaan) is an Islamic religious observance that takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar; the month in which the Qur'an was revealed[Qur'an 2:185] to the Prophet Muhammad. In the western calendar, the dates of Ramadan vary, moving forward about ten days each year. It is the Islamic month of fasting, in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, sexual conduct, smoking, and indulging in anything that is in excess or ill-natured; from dawn until sunset [1] Fasting is meant to teach the Muslim patience, modesty and spirituality. Ramaḍān is a time to fast for the sake of Allah, and to offer more prayer than usual. Muslims also believed through good actions, they get rewarded twice as much as they normally can achieve. During Ramaḍān, Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance and help in refraining from everyday evils, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds.

So if you dont take part and say continue to smoke during the day would you be looked down on? Only reason i ask is because my old boss continued smoking throughout Ramadan even though his father was VERY religious......:?

Dunno why you'd refer to this as a special time, but have a good one nonetheless

The act of fasting is said to redirect the heart away from worldly activities, its purpose being to cleanse the inner soul and free it from harm.

i guess you can lose weight but you just get so hungry and eat as much as u can and i dont know if that really does make you lose weight.
especially as the fast ends at night so it will be stored as fat.

O Allah please forgive us for our sins and raise us to the promised rank if we fall short.
O Allah please make our journey easy for us.
O Allah please accept our intentions and our actions.
O Allah, do not let the disbelievers have power over us.
