electric scooter.. What one and what's the law?

I'm at just under 17st and I want a electric scooter that cost no more than £300. I want one that got a good battery life and will also get me up hills..

Speed don't matter to much as long it's faster than me walking.

I did see this just over my price but looks rely good >http://www.hifi-tower.co.uk/Electronic_Star_V12_Electric_Scooter_500W_23_mph_38_km/h__i229_3344_0.htm?campaign=pricesearch/google/10003852

What is the law about using a scooter on a path?

Thanks,
Paul

Why not just get a moped?

Why?

you're not allowed to ride a bicycle on the footpath, (i'm assuming the same applies for a scooter) it doesn't apply if you're under the age of criminal responsibility, but at 17st i don't suppose that applies.

"I'm at just under 17st"

I think you need to try walking,
"cut down on your pork-life mate get some exercise"

Do you mean a mobility scooter that old people use?

lol 17st and needing help to get up hills :)

i saw in the news a few weeks back a story about a guy who got arrested/fined for using a segway on a footpath, so im sure that scooter will be just as illegal.
#12
Suitable for persons up to 80kg.

I think you may have a problem achieving any decent speed.
#13
Is that the one you ordered? It says Suitable for persons up to 80kg.
#14
Um... It says up to 80 kgs.

If you're 17st you are well above that

Looks like you just failed.

Illegal and you're too fat

Are you overweight? If so I would suggest getting a pedal bike would be much better for you and to be honest, I would imagine any electric scooter you can buy will struggle to move at a bearable speed given that you are 17st unlike the 8st like kids that these are typically aimed at.

i hope you dont take offense, none intended, just being realistic.

WALK !!!! I am far from in good shape myself and drive everywhere so yes I have a cheek, but to be caught at 17st driving one of these machines is going to open you up for serious abuse.

Either this is a wind up or you own the company selling the scooters, or you are insane, or somewhere between them

Why?

because you obviously need the exercise!

I struggle to believe anyone thinks you can ride these on footpaths unless they are retarded!

These arent even road legal so have fun riding around your garden on it lol

and these are wholly unsuitable for lardies like the OP (max weight 12stone).

I vote that we chip in and buy it for him in exchange for pic's and youtube video of him on it, in his back yard wont do either, has to be in public on the footpath on it filmed by a friend. And edited video with onboard footage would also be rewarded

dont mean to be all pious but arent you all being a bit unfair?

1. we dont know if this person is 'fat', obese etc, he could 7' tall and therefore normal bmi for all you know (unlikely i know)
2. he didnt say he was going to kick cats or fiddle with children ffs, he just talked about using an electric scooter.

i'm the first person to moan at fat people for not trying to get healthier but i dont think continual ****-taking is going to help him any, and its not really that satisfying is it? surely that sort of banter is best for the pub face-to-face, not via a keyboard?...
