The thing is i have tried looking and the ones i have seen have a battery life of about 40 mins which i think is pretty useless. you know these are supposed to be only used on private land, there has been lots about them with the police becoming involved

Yep, am pretty sure this is true, My son had one, didn't have any problem with it whilst out on it, but as they say battery doesn't really last long. Other option is a Petrol one, which I know nothing about but think they are suppose to be better:)

And maybe being 11 he could be a bit big for the electric ones, My son out grew his so quick being so tall!

I think all the battery ones are pretty useless + the length of time the battery will hold the charge lessens with age.

If you're going to get one I'd go for a petrol one (although they advise 14+) & he will have to be careful where he rides it.
