thanks Mike, its the actual preference between the 2 types that i was looking for opinions on, does one suit a thicker/lighter stubble than the other etc.
once i find the best type i can start looking for the best brand and price;-)

Bitsey - stick with the wet if you want my opinion. OH has bought me a couple over the years and they are mince compared to a blade. Just a thought before you buy! :) If you do go for it though heads seem best and the technology has really come on.

I found that the foil ones worked better, but the foil was very easy to tear & break. The head ones are OK, but I found that they needed a bit more time as I had to go over my face a few times.

If your hubby hasn't used a shaver before then it will take a few days before he sees reasonable results (I read that in one of the the booklets that came with a shaver) - don't know why though.

I prefer a razor - much better results for me.

My OH will always say stick to wet shaving,a much closer shave is guaranteed.

The difference between foils and floating head is that foils will shave you closer than the floating head but the latter will shave you quicker.

i bought this http://www.shavers.co.uk/shopping.php?product_id=732
not long ago for £200

it is a foil shaver and as most people know electrics will never come as close as a wet shave

in saying that this does a very good job and comes as close as u can expect from a electric one, it has a cleaning dock as well which apparantly makes it fresh and feel brand new as u first bought it, havent tried it mind

bit pricey for just a shaver but it seems to do the job good
