I'm trying to find out from other members with the same sort of homes/occupants what the average sort of cost is for the above services.

I have a 3 bed detached with gas central heating, water heating and cooking.

Electricity is used in large chunks by all members of the family it seems, lots of pc's laptops and tv use, some aircon, but lights are all energy saving lamps.

2 Adults and 2 teen girls.

My Powergen costs average over the year around £56/month for electricity and £36/month for Gas.

So if your home/occupants is comparable with mine lets see your figures please :)

Very similar situation to you House wise except our boiler is a Combi. Have no energy saving stuff but all our white goods are A rated. There is Myself, the wife a toddler and any day now another baby.

I'm with British Gas and Electricity comes out over the year at around £35 p/m Electricity and Gas at about £33.

We run games consoles, PC's and TV's. All the usual but it seems to be quite decent price wise per month.

I am about to have my boiler and complete central heating system changed as its an old floor standing boiler thats so far away from green you wouldnt believe it, so I think my gas usage is prob not too bad atm.
Its the leky that gets a pasting though. I hate to think how many little black transformers we have for dect phones, door bells, kit under the tv and a whole host of other stuff thats not individually taking much wattage, but combined...

The lecy does seem very high. I think i'd cry. lol.

May be worth getting your meter looked at if you suspect a fault.

Mike, all of them little black transformers will not be using much electricity, even combined, your Air Con certainly will be.;-)

There isnt much I can switch off that hasnt got a clock attached (recorders etc) or is in use for something. With 3 females taking showers a day @8.5kw/hr its not long racking up the units.
I worked back the consumption to around 1.25kw/hr over a 16hr day, thats around 20kw/day:w00t:

I just put a load tester on my meter tails and I am drawing just under 1kw now with 1pc, 2 laptops, tv and all the little transformers going, it soon mounts up!

I have had very little reason to use the aircon (3.5kw) this year so its not that ;-)
