Emirates Airlines

I'm planning a trip to Australia in October & my sister has found flights for me.

She normally uses British Airways which is about the same price as Emirates.

But BA means I have to go from Manchester to Heathrow to Singapore to Perth.

Emirates fly from Manchester to Dubai to Perth so only one connection.

Has anyone travelled with Emirates before, as my sister hasnt expericnced them, & if so what was it like, comfy planes, decent meals etc?

Emirates might be easier as I would be travelling on my own & I will be 17 & never been to Heathrow before but use manchester a few times a year. Also we would be using the new Terminal at Heathrow so I would probabably arrive without any luggage lol.

Any feedback would be appreciated as I'm going away tomorrow for a week & we want to try & book flights ASAP as my sister is in the process of moving from Chile to Australia & the prices will go up if we leave it to long.

Thanks alot

James

The planes are nice. I don't know what they operate from MAN, but it will either be a boeing 777 or Airbus A330 aircraft.

I've heard Emirates are really good, with comfy seats and good food. I've used both Qantas and Singapore Airlines to travel to Melbourne. I'd recommend Singapore Airlines but I'll never use Qantas again as they were terrible.

i second singapore airlines they are the best i've ever travelled with

From what i know it will be a boeing 777-300ER from MAN, and then A 777-200 from DXB.

You would be checked in all the way through to PER at MAN so you get time to shop like mad at DXB.

Every seat on the aircraft has seat back PTV's, so you won't be bored.

Emirates are easily one of (if not) the best. I always travel with them whenever I can. Have used them 4 times now for long haul flights via Dubai. Always had good food and excellent service. The in-flight entertainment is also one of the best I've experienced. Never been with Singapore but have heard great things about them also.

Go for Emirates you won't be disappointed!

I've flown on them all, and i agree my choice would be Singapore Airlines first, Quantas next then Emirates. They are good quality and comfortable. BA as per usual comes last on all counts.

Check out the Emirates Website for more information. Tells you the flight numbers travelling that day and Aircraft type. Also closer to your departure date you can find out what films and tv shows etc. will be available on each of your flights.

Emirates Flight Services

If you do choose Emirates be sure to check in online so you can save yourself an hour or so at the airport. (Can only be done within 24 hours of departing).

I did this last time. There was a separate queue at the airport for those who had checked in online and there were about 5 people in it

Emirates is definitely better than BA (well, almost any airline is)
Dubai airport is said to have one of the best duty frees. I didn't find it that interesting though but then again i'm not into shopping. If you have a couple of hours you can go into the city, not much to see but ok for half a day or a day.

 Would deff fly with Emirates to Dubai, One of the best airlines to use. as said in previous answer inflight entertainment top class. Flew with them for the first time april 05 for silver wedding to Dubai, we never wanted for a thing whilst on board and the staff on the flight and in the airport were among the happiest and helpful people we have ever met.

Didnt think much of Dubai or Abu Dhabi airports from a duty free aspect.

Emirates definitely. Have flown with them to Dubai twice and great service, good meals, comfy seats and inflight entertainment.

Thanks alot for all the replys, just been told by someone elswhere that his flight from Dubai to Perth was the worst he has ever experienced in terms of customer service. But the reviews here seem great & I think it will be better than BA going by what has been said. I will check out about the flights as well online.

I like the sound of having TV's in each seat as I hate normal ones where it's a couple of rows in front of you. I will no doubt be working though as I have to have a week off college so will have bit's to catch up on.
I will give my sister an emial with the feedback about emirates & she can make the final decision, after all she is paying

Would I need a visa to get into australia, or like tunisia is it one you just fill in whilst you are on the plane or get to the airport?

What's Dubai duty free like then in terms of whats avaliable & the prices? On the dates we are looking at the plane arrives there at 00:15 & the flight to Perth leave at 02:35 so I wouldn't have much time there anyway, only 1 hour 20 between touch down & take off on the return flight as well.

Finally, could I take a laptop onto the plane to use as I'm getting one soon & couldtake it onboard if they allow them.

Reps will be left shortly....

Thanks alot

Laptops are allowed, just turn off the wireless. They just put them through the security scanner on their own.

Yeah you need a visa. Apply early, as there was a complication in my mates and we had to get our MP involved to sort it out.

First time I went though it was arraged by the company we booked with. http://www.expedia.co.uk

For info from the Australian Embassy look here http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist/976/index.htm

My husband works out in the Middle East so I travel out there A LOT!!

Emirates are a fantastic airline and you will be really looked after - all drinks are complimentary - if that appeals and nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

You have your own personal tv in the headrest of the chair in front and they have really up to date films and tv shows, plus a gaming section and music section where you can create your own playlists and use it like an ipod.

I have never had a bad flight with them

Alternatively you could look at Qatar airways - Qatar is about an hours flight away from Dubai and they are also highly recommended (by me!!)

As for the shopping - Dubai airport is a big airport but I wouldn't say it has anything more or less than regualar large airports - gold is cheap as you buy it by the carat and the weight - it is also good for buying loose gem stones - although I am not sure about the import duties that may be involved with this.

They generally have good offers on booze n fags but perfumes n make up are not that much cheaper than in Manchester - Clinique lip gloss is about £9 in Manchester and about £8 in Dubai so not that much difference but it all depends on what you are looking for.

Hope this is of help and enjoy your trip!!

Emirates!

Emirates is one of the best Airline Companies in the world! Previously Emirates has been voted the best in the airline sector. Singapore too is a very good airline company, British Airways is not hard to beat nowadays when compared with these two which are second to none!

Good luck on your travels! :)
