Does anyone know how much I am allowed to carry in the cabin on an economy class ticket from Manchester to Perth?

Getting picked up at 9am tomorrow & am wondering what college work I can take with me as alot of it is text books.

I can have 20kg hold luggage if it makes any difference.

Cheers

You can find the information on their website.

Cabin baggage allowance
First and Business Class

First and Business Class passengers are generally permitted two (2) pieces of carry-on baggage: one (1) briefcase plus either one (1) handbag or one (1) garment bag, all subject to the following size and weight limitations:

Briefcase: 18 x 14 x 8 inches (45 x 35 x 20 cm)
Handbag: 22 x 15 x 8 inches (55 x 38 x 20 cm)
Garment bag: 8 inches (20 cm) thick when folded.

Total combined weight of both pieces must not exceed 26 lbs (12kg). While duty free purchases of liquor, cigarettes and perfume in reasonable quantities are also permitted in addition to the above, exceptions apply with new liquid restrictions in place. Read more about these here.

Economy Class

Economy Class passengers are permitted one (1) piece of carry-on baggage, subject to the following size and weight limitations:

Handbag: 22 x 15 x 8 INS (55 x 38 x 20 cm)

Weight must not exceed 15 lbs (7 kg). Duty free purchases of liquor, cigarettes and perfume in reasonable quantities are also permitted in addition to the above.

Exceptions

For passengers boarding at airports in India, the size of the bag is not to exceed 45.3 INS or 115 cm (length x breath x height).

Exemptions may be granted for oversized hand baggage containing an item or items which are too large to fit within the permitted bag size and are valuable or fragile. Such oversized baggage shall be presented by the passenger for approval at check-in and at the screening point of examination.

Passengers travelling with infants

For infant food and other in-flight necessities, passengers in any class of service who are travelling with an infant are permitted one (1) piece of carry-on baggage in addition to the above, subject to the following size and weight limitations:

Handbag: 22 x 15 x 8 INS (55 x 38 x 20 cm)

Weight must not exceed 11 lbs (5 kg).

Passengers travelling with infants are also permitted one (1) carry-cot or one (1) fully collapsible stroller, as a carry-on item if cabin space is available or else as checked baggage in the hold.

‘Wheelie’ bags

Please note that rolling bags with built-in wheels and retractable handles will be permitted as cabin baggage only if the total dimensions (length, width and height) add up to less than 45 inches (114 cm). The larger, overnight models of this type of bag will not be permitted in the cabin.

*Applicable for One Way or Return journeys commencing outside Brazil.

i've flown emirates a few times and they are fairly relaxed. You could probably get away with 23kg in your checked in bags, but have a bit of spare space in your hand luggage in case you need to transfer some out if they get snotty.

And on long haul i thought the check in limit was 30 kg? might be worth checking.

In terms of hand luggage, 7kgs is the limit, but they don't often weigh the bag so if it is normal size (it has to be anyway) and you don't look as if you are struggling under the shear weight they probably wont worry about it.

Thanks alot, shouldnt got over 7kg then hopefully. Will just leave the folders at home, its all the text books that take up so much weight.
